I wish I understood how those particular types of spam messages are actually profitable to these people. It seems kind of arbitrary, I don't see how embedding a hyperlink in a punctuation mark does any good, unless it's using spiders to further transmit data or something somewhere else down the line. |
Part of what makes a site popular on many search engines is the number of links you have incoming to your website. Now, links from good sites that are also popular help, but the less creative way of generating these links are to spam every place you can throw a link into. If you're going to go the brute force way, it doesn't matter what the text is that links to your site is.
