We took the car to the local mechanic. Got the service we wanted and according to law they can't gig us for using a 3rd party oil filter or another service department. The mechanics are ASE certified so they can't argue they're not qualified. In fact one of them used to work at that dealership and he told us a few stories that pretty much guaranteed we won't go back there.
