Ok, I Think I Am Going To Go On A Rampage...

My girlfriend works in the HR department of a publishing company, she is the manager of benefits. She has these 2 guys in her department who used to work for her and now report to her boss because they needed constant supervision as they were slackers.

My g/f has this attitude that "Hey, you are an adult. If you are asked to do somehting, you should do it. If you don't, that's your problem not mine!" Therefore, she was never really up these guys asses to get them to do their job.

So there's a staff meeting this past Tuesday, and the shit hits the fan because these two guys screwed up a couple things and an ad was published in the wrong journal. All of which do not relate to my g/f's job function. So my g/f reems these guys out (who she no longer supervises). In the same meeting, her boss then reems her out for not keeping an eye on these two individual's work product. Now keep in mind, my g/f doesn't supervise them anymore, her boss does (the previously mentioned reemer).

Today she walks into the office, gets called into a meeting and told that these two slackers have complained about her not helping out with some data entry. Not my g/f's concern, she is a manager, they are data entry clerks and they never asked her for help. My g/f is then presented with an option -- continue working for the company under a written warning. This means she can be fired at any time, at her boss's discretion OR suggest a severence package for herself that the company can live with and present it to her boss by Tuesday.

She has no savings, lives on her own, basically check to check, and has been looking for a new job for some time already only, there is not much out there right now. Does this suck or what !?!

Why am I going to go on a rampage --

1) the situation is not fair to begin with, and I hate that.
2) I can no longer spend tomorrow as I had planned, in a bar, wacthing the Yankees play in the afternoon and the Cubs play tomorrow night. Why, she needs company. Aaaaarggggghhhh!!

It's incomprehensable that they'd fire a perfectly good employee because two bad employees fucked up.

If I was your girlfriend, I'd grab every piece of paper with their names on it (past performance appraisals, anything that might say 'shape up', etc) and take it to her boss' boss on Monday, asking why she's taking the fall for these guy's incompetence. Of course, that might just get her fired, too, but I'd hate taking anything like that sitting down.

But yeah, that really does suck.
