No, what you did was seemingly get suprised that someone wasn't aware that he died. You were noticeably puzzled over it. That leads me to believe that you were working on the assumption that American "news" is the only news, and that the rest of the worlds news networks do nothing but re feed the US networks to us. Which is not entirely the case.

You see Stag, there are these other places in the world besides the US, for the sake of argument, let's call them "countries". And they are populated by people other than Americans and to continue, let's call them "normal people". Now, all these "normal people" have things to do in the run of the day besides scan the news for American presidents who'v died.

Now, the funny part is , is that alot of Americans don't realize, or can't seem to grasp the simple fact that sets these "normal people" and other "countries" apart from the Americans. That being "WE'RE NOT AMERICANS!!!!! The other thing that alot of Americans have a hard time understanding about these "normal people" and other "countries", is that as much "breaking news" as there is in the US, and as many social issues and events as there are in the US everyday, all of these other "countries" have the same.

So in closing, I hope I've helped you to understand a bit why it took me a few days to find out Reagan died. It's not because the Canadian media is unqualified, nor is it because I live a sheltered life, it's quite simply because WE DON'T FUCKING CARE!!!

(FYI: If you're an American and haven't picked up on the sarcasm in this post, therefore getting offended, tough shit.)

You know I typed a really witty and sarcastic retort and I lost it somehow, dammit. I am too lazy to retype it other than to say get rid of your dial up, you'll get news faster and secondly, meh.

In the UK Big Brother is on, so Reagan got pushed under the carpet so to speak. There was topless mud wrestling in the house last night.

- Heh! Canadians calling us abnormal... that's a good one!

- Topless mud wrestling? COOL! Unfortunately, bu the time that ep of BB gets to the states, they won't show that part.

- OK, so today.. er uh, yesterday... you know, Friday, (look, it's 5 am and I haven't been to bed yet, so fuck off!) they buried Regan. My whole week has been one big 'meh' over the thing (too much yap about it I guess). Anywho, I'm flipping the channels and they're taking his coffin out of the church into the hurst. I have to admit that when they started playing 'Hail to the Cheif' I got a little lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

Does it make me a bad American because I didn't get so emotional over his death? I mean, he was old and ill... it was just his time, and it's not like I knew him personaly.

Although I AM more bummed to hear that Ray Charles died. ... good music.

Yeah, Ray charles unlucky in two ways -- one, he died and two, he died while the media was obsessed with Reagan. There are probably some people, like Canadians :P, who may not have even have realized he died.

RIP Ray, we'll miss you
