![]() | People often rail GEN as being an extended episode or some such, but it really was a good-looking film, with a visual style that was quite different from the show. Expanding their shots out to 2.35 widescreen and altering the lighting the way they did... I just don't understand when people say that these movies look like episodes. It just doesn't plain make any sense, especially when you know anything about the difference between movies and TV (which, admittedly, gets smaller all the time).

| Religious Fanatic | I didn't think FC or Nemesis looked like TV episodes, nor did I think any of the TOS films did, even TFF. The fact is the TNG film sets, lighting, filming, costuming and make up were done by more or less the same people as the TV series. The advantage the TOS films had was that they basically started from scratch, so everything was movie quality from the outset, with only a couple of TNG sets being used for quick shots in the later films. All the TNG films used TV costumes, a lot of TV props, GEN was nearly all TV sets, and up until NEM some of the Enterprise-E sets bore an uncanny resemblance to those seen on Voyager.

![]() | They may have bore some resemblance, but after "Generations" all the props and sets from the TNG TV series were done and over. That included new phasers and tricorders, corridors, the bridge, Picard's ready room, new costumes from "First Contact" on (that were later adopted by "Deep Space Nine"). "Insurrection" redressed Voyager's engineering bay to be the ship's library, and "First Contact" used Voyager's sickbay, but other than that, everything in the latter 3 TNG movies was completely new. "Nemesis" even replaced the Sickbay with a completely new set, since the Voyager set was gone. As for using the costumes... only "Generations" used costumes from the TV series. DS9 adopted the "First Contact" style uniforms after the movie, and then used the white dress uniforms after they first appeared in "Insurrection". DS9 didn't even do its own FC-style admiral's uniform until after they'd designed one for "Insurrection".

| It's me again | Hey Brik, check out some of the bridge photos this guy put on his site. Looks like the ENT boys took some of your suggestions to add color to the NX01 bridge. Except instead of red, they used light blue on the door and the hand rails. http://khmx.com/jacor-common/globalp...t=Morning_Show

| Religious Fanatic | They used the Voyager sick bay in FC and Insurrection, as well as the shuttle interiors, not to mention the fact that I once saw Riker and Troi take a bath together in Janeway's ready room, plus the whole style of the sets and costuming is very TV, because the people who made them usually work on TV.
