| Patrons | I heard about a program you can download, onto your computer, something like spyware, but it doesn't show an icon so other users don't know it's there. It also features being able to read and print what other users on your computer posts in chatrooms and instant messages, even days after the postings occur. It can also check e-mails that have been sent, recieved or replied to even if the e-mails have been discarded. This program can also check websites that users have hit and when they hit them. You can also set it up so that you get an e-mail notifying you if certian sites (i.e. porn) were hit and at what time. The program is originally designed for parents to keep tabs on what their kids are doing on the internet, but some people are using it to catch their spouses/partners cheating on them. Since there's no icon, or anyway for another household user to know it's there, the only person who knows about it is the one who downloaded it. Anyways, if anyone has any info about this program, let me know. I have a friend intrested in applying it to her computer.

![]() | Hmmm I always wondered if these sorts of programs have a legitimate use. I wonder if it is invisible to spybot or your virus scanner? Might I suggest however that you have a firewall installed and make sure that this blocks the program from accessing the internet - the last thing you want is to willing install software that's going to scam all of your credit card details!

![]() | Well, I'm sure the legitimate NetNanny software is OK. My aunt used it for her kids, and they had no problems. And it's not letting other computers monitor you, it's letting you monitor yourself. Some hacker could probably get access somehow, but they can do pretty much anything if your comp is connected to the internet.

| Patrons | Yeah... it's pretty much a given that a good hacker can get to your info regurdless of firewalls... but I would still take every precaution available.
