Default Beating Out Priceline

So, you go to Priceline.com to make a bid and you think you're bid is reasonable but you get the message that your bid is not accepted. According to Priceline's rules, you have to wait 72 hours before bidding again... right? Wrong! Check this out.

If you've ever used priceline.com, you know it's a roll of the dice.* You name your price for a hotel room, and if the Web site accepts your bid, you're in.

There are, however, many rules to the bidding game.* If Priceline rejects your bid for a hotel room, you must wait 72 hours before you can bid again.*

There are a couple of ways to get around that rule.* You can change the class of your hotel, for example, from a five-star to a four-star. Or you can add an additional hotel zone.

If you know how to play the game, you can get free rebids. But that only works with the highest star rating for any city.**

In our example, we used Columbus.
Priceline breaks each city down into zones.* In Columbus, there are eight zones.* Only downtown offers a four-star hotel. The seven other zones offer a three-star room, or less. This is a perfect case for seven free bids.
*
Here's the trick. Each time you add a new zone, you get a free rebid, and you get around the 72-hour rule.*

When Priceline rejected our extremely low bid of $10 dollars for a four-star hotel room in downtown Columbus, we added "Columbus West" because we know that zone doesn't offer four- star hotel rooms. So, we're guaranteed we won't ever get a four-star hotel room in Columbus West.

Our only chance is downtown Columbus, where we really want to stay.* After adding $10 onto our next four free rebids, we got a four-star hotel room in downtown Columbus for $60.

That's $109 cheaper than what we found on a popular travel website.*

If we had to follow Priceline's 72-hour rule, it would have taken us 12 days to achieve the same result.

It's a time saver, and a smart way for the savvy travel bargain hunter to save even more!
