![]() | I had never heard of the Brikarians before, and I thought I knew a lot about Star Trek. What is your connection to the Brikarians? Don't make me have to report you to the MACOs. http://www.ucip.org/map/RacePlanet/Brikar.html |

![]() | It's a race that Peter David cooked up, first for his "Starfleet Academy" young adult series. In one of those books, Worf got into a fight with a Brikar named Kebron on his first day at the Academy. Years later, Kebron became tactical officer of the USS Excalibur in David's "New Frontier" series. They're big, formidable creatures who have to wear these funky belts because of their mass so that they can function normally in Earth-type gravity. I liked the Kebron character a lot when I read those books, and I liked the sound of the name "Brikar", thought it was really cool. So I went with it. My previous nickname was "TothKiller", a comic strip character my friend Cheev and I had developed in high school to defend teenagers everywhere from the evil Mrs. Toth, a 10th grade english teacher whom we thought was particularly evil. It's a good thing I stopped using that one, cuz she died of breast cancer last year and I felt bad.

![]() | Hehe Well, I do recommend the "New Frontier" books by Peter David. I've read all but the latest two, and they're definitely something different. In all honesty, I think "New Frontier" is what Trek would be like if Joss Whedon wrote it. The styles are VERY similar, at least in my mind, especially when it comes to the series' sense of humor.

| Religious Fanatic | I don't know why, but I could never give myself a Trek oriented nick. Acctually, I could never give myself a nick from any piece of fiction, I don't know why, but it just feels tacky. Same for people who use their real name followed by a number...

It's acctually very unique when you think about it, cause most people name themselves after what I've said above, and I've yet to see anyone on the internet who is called "American" or "Englishman", and the added bonus of it being in a language few people will understand means most people won't give it a thought. Plus, there are very few people on BBSes who would be able to call themselves Cymro. First, there's only about 3 million people in Wales, most of those don't speak Welsh, then you have to cut out all of the people who can't use the internet, or Computers, and all the people who aren't bored enough to sign up to a BBS, and you're left with one; ME (though there are a few Cymro_____@hotmail.com... names registered, but people with hotmail accounts are 'a dime a dozen')Oh, and nobody take offense to what I said, because that only applies to me, I don't look at people's nicks and say "oh, well that's a bit tacky" or anything, it's just that I like to be a bit different in my approach.
