$3900 damage to my car. Fuckin' ice. Today I go by the place, and there's about ten pounds of salt per square foot. Where was that friggin' salt monday night when the whole road was like a goddamn skating rink?

I hit this patch of black ice that pretty much extended across the entire lane as I was braking coming down a hill. I spun out and slammed into a rock wall. The back bumper tore off, the back left axle is all bent. It's the axle I'm betting is the most expensive to repair.

The car wasn't driveable and had to be towed.

I'm glad I'm okay, too... Not a scratch on me, all the damage is to the rear end of the car, so I'm pretty lucky. No airbag deployment.

Glad that you're OK.... I'm curious... was it kind of slow motion, where you felt like you just couldn't move fast enough? I had a similar incident, only on dry asphalt during the summer. It all seemed to move so slowly- until the embankment came up to meet me @ 50 MPH.

Part of it was... it was lightning fast as I was sliding, then things seemed to slow down right as I hit the wall, then sped up again when I bounced off the wall and back across the street.
