It's official! PS3 delayed!

The PS3 won't be released until November in Japan, which suggests that any American release won't happen until after Christmas.

Bah. My PS2 is barely hanging in there... I was hoping to get the PS3 before it kicked the bucket entirely. I doubt it'll make it through the summer.

I refuse to waste my money on a SuXbox 360.

With any new console, I usually like to wait at least six months before I'm sure I want to actually buy it, Nintendo being the exception to the rule. The reason is that I want to see if the game library will really be worth it, this attitude is a holdover from the days when consoles dried up fast. Playstation is pretty solid though.

The problem with Playstation and XBOX is that they're trying to load them up with extra features. If I want a DVD player, I'll get something that was specifically designed to be a DVD player. I can pick up a good one for anywhere from 30 to 100 dollars these days. I don't want to be without both a gaming console AND a DVD player if something should go wrong with the functionality of the system.

I think that the reason that Playstation and XBOX are loading up their consoles is because of Nintendo. Nintendo's strategy has always been to scare their competition with promises of amazing new low cost consoles so that they spend massive amounts in R&D and testing, making product with too many bells and whistles, while Nintendo focuses on just making game consoles.

I am going to have to get an XBOX and a Playstation 3 eventually though, gaming is still a solid part of my leisure time seeing as how I don't watch much TV as I get older. There are some games that just aren't available on Nintendo, and XBOX is most likely to offer up games that are extremely violent or contain sexual content. I was shocked when Nintendo released Resident Evil on their console, not to mention the Sims with their pixelated nudity and suggestive situations like the partner swapping and gay relationships in the Bustin' Out game LOL!

Playstation 3 will be worth the wait, let's just hope that they don't have to be recalled like the XBOX was when their power converters started fires a few years ago.

I think PlayStation's problem is, their console may only end up being out for a year or two before Microsoft comes up with a new console. Sony has to be careful that they don't lag behind too much, otherwise they'll be playing serious catch-up.

IGN is reporting that Sony is moving toward a worldwide release for November, moving a million unites a month.
