And it could be a Cat 4 by the time it makes landfall. I've got family northward of here, assuming my damn job closes, but Ike (and it's remnants) looks to be going up as far as Dallas.
I'm in an apartment, and of course my apartment, and more specifically MY ROOM, is on the end of our building.....which faces roughly east. Which is the general direction the wind would be coming from.

I hope this thing keeps turning more NE to put Houston on the "clean side" of it....which would be some small comfort.

I remember when Hurricane Alicia hit and I always thought that was some powerful shit. This could possibly be worse.

I haven't been in a hurricane since 1967. I just inherited a bunch of super8mm movies of it. Roofs and palm trees everywhere.

Thanks guys....right now it looks like it may hit as a Cat 2 with a fairly quick decrease to Cat 1 (hopefully). Of course the eye (does this even have an eye?) looks to be heading right towards.....me. So looks like I'm literally gonna be at the center of it all. I'm just hoping this thing keeps getting weaker.

Closet Racist.....I was just down in your neck of the woods last month. Further south on Mustang Island at a resort in Corpus. Saw the Lexington, Aquarium, etc. Had fun.

Looks like you'll be getting your share of nasty weather for the next few days. Be safe.

Did you hear the NWS warning for Galveston? "Those who remain in one and two-story structures face certain death." I've don't know that I've ever heard a "certain death" warning before.
