Default A little design help please

So as I mentioned the other day, I'm building a firepit.

What happened is that my roomate and a former room mate were cleaning out the basement last year and found a bunch of old bricks and a few cinder blocks. Naturally, this turned into a discussion on how they could light things on fire.

So they through it all together, no mortar or anything, and created what turned out to be a half decent firepit in the backyard. Well, time, and the lack of effort used in creating it, has naturally torn it apart. I'm on sick leave from work right now and the nice weather is just starting to pick up so I thought it would be an interesting project to keep me busy, while at the same time not costing a whole lot of money.

My question is, are there any decent programs out there with which I can actually design it. It's not going to be anything fancy, but I do have the measurements of all the materials involved, as well as an accurate count of them. I'm in the process of downloading AutoDesk AutoCAD. I've never used the program before, and I'm not even sure it's something that I could use for this.

So, my software knowledgeable friends, any suggestions?

EDIT: Pictures as I move through the process. Unfortunately I didn't get one of the previous construction before I tore it down.

Yeah, I'm sure it does. Unfortunately the city by-laws here say that fire in a backyard needs to be partially covered. So I need to be a little more creative about it. Not to mention I'm kinda into the idea of doing something fairly intricate with this as I'm off work for a while with time to kill.

That's a "money pit" not a fire pit.
