![]() | http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_sho...l?article=27055 So now the Libertarians want to move here to try to sway the votes in this state. What a laugh, they'll have to stand in line with the militias in the north woods, the conservatives, and the other nutjobs that live in this strange little state. I have to point out some things: - 75% of the "free staters" have college degrees, and 50% earn 60k. They say they want to move to the northern counties. Well, if they move there, they won't be making 60k and they won't need their degrees, because the paper mills are the only places that have jobs out there, and the local unemployment rate is pretty high as it is. - The governor got 239,000 votes last election. 20,000 votes is a drop in the bucket. - Secede from the union? Didn't we settle the question of secession during the Civil War? -They quote a guy moving up to NH from Alabama. I hope he likes snow, it's a lot colder up here, and nothing makes people think you have a lower IQ around here than a deep South accent. Average house price in Alabama: $116k. NH: $250k. You do the math. The runner-up state was Wyoming. I wonder how many of these folks will actually move just for a political ideal, when most places are a lot cheaper to live in?

| "It's a faaaake!" | Another question that comes to mind is: have these assclowns heard of carpetbagging? Do they know that's bad?

![]() | Well, apparently they think carpetbagging is a tradition that dates back to the Colonial era. I guess you can make anything a tradition if you want to. That's ok, Wyoming isn't taking this lying down. They're trying to get at least some of these folks to go there instead! Also, the timeline means that they won't have much of an impact. They're trying to get 20k people by 2006, and then they'll have 5 years to move - 2011. By then, tons more folks of various persuasions will have moved to NH, negating the effect of 20k Libertarians voting as a block. And of course by then at least some of these 20k folks will have moved on and gotten a life.

I had a manager once. Every meeting she had, she'd point out at least once that 'there was no I in team'. So, every time I heard that, I had to point out that there was 'me' in team. I blame Pavlov for my posting it here.
