![]() | Saw the Exploited last Sunday. Havn't seen a hardcore show like this in awhile. More mohawks than the last two shows combined! More stage diving as well. And I didn't fuck up my ribs, despite the far more aggressive nature of this show. What can I say? Great show by The Exploited, Total Chaos, The Strap On's! I missed Houston's first punk band "The Hates", but I did get to meet the bands founder\lead singer, Chrisitian Anarchy, and I got my pic taken with him, and a punk rock hottie. Fights?! Hell yeah there were fights! The Exploited had to stop about three times to tell fighting people to cut the shit out. And between Total Chaos and The Exploited, me and a couple of young punker chicks are sittin' outside in front of the house next door, smoking and drinking a 40 OZ er, when cop's start showing up. So these chicks are getting drunk, raggin' on people walking by (one guy had his fucking MOM there looking for him, so these chick's keep tellin' everyone (in smarmy, punk rock chick voice) that "Your mom's lookin for you") then out of nowhere, a fucking police chopper with a spotlight starts circlin' overhead!! Hellz yeah!! Naturally, me and the chicks flipped 'em off! We thought the place was gonna be raided, but it wasn't. But after we went back in, we thought it had been raided a couple of times because all we could see when the fights broke out were hands with flashlights. Me and one of the lovlies went ground zero in the pit and slam danced. She and her friend run a local punk mag, so she was also takin' pictures of the bands and crowd. I got my pic taken by her with her friend, hopefully I'll get to see the pic's soon. We'll all be going to the Reverend Horton Heat in a couple of weeks.

![]() | The Exploited are still around??? They're pretty old, they must be around fifty years old (individually, not as a band) Oh well, old punks don't die, they just become old punks! |

![]() | Yeah, I'm amazed at how many old punk bands are still around. Sub-Humans, Exploited, Youth Brigade, The Dickies, etc. It's good to see that some people are still pissed off enough about things to keep raging against the system. How old are you Des? I'm 36, though as everyone keeps telling me, I look 23. While I take it as a compliment, I hear this so much that it's annoying. I keep getting ID'd at too many places. I'm not sure how young those punker chicks were, (a little younger than I think they are) but they certainly were surprised to find out my age. I think they think I'm cooler because I can remember when Punk was actually dangerous. I guess I should've asked them their age. I have a sneaking suspicion they're under my age limit, which is about 22. For some reason, my best bud and I can't stand being around people our own age. When we were younger, most of our friends were older, now that we're older, most of our friends are younger. Hell, the chick I was with the longest was 12 years older than me.

Have you read the book titled "American Hardcore"? That's like a walk down memory lane for me. Although the book isn't nostalgic, it's more like a documentary of the national scene at that time. A good freind of mine assisted Steven Blush in putting that book together. He tells me that Steven has recieved death threats for putting that book out LOL! Incidentally, this same freind is the same one I want to hear Ensign Ro Your Boat's demos. This guy reviews new and unknown music, he's had columns in The Village Voice and works for Juxtapoz, which is a magazine that I think you'd really like, it's a counterculture art magazine founded by Robert Williams. My buddy has also done a book called "Art That Kills", it's sure to upset the sensibilities of many people, but I think you'd be able to handle it. My freind is also a Star Trek fan and has offered to introduce me to the guy who wrote "The Computers of Star Trek", an excellent book BTW. Anyway, I didn't think you were as old as I am, your energy is definitely somewhere in the mid 20s, which is why you probably get carded. Besides, if you still dress like a punk (I don't) I think people have trouble determining the true age of someone wearing all the regalia. Me, I'm more likely to shave my head, although when I lived in L.A. I grew my hair long and dyed it black. I can add or subtract 10 years to my appearance depending on how much hair I have on my face and head, but I never ever seem to look like my true age. ![]() | |
