October third and it is my daughter Nicole's 8th Birthday!!!

I am happy to share that with all of you, my new Astrobar friends.

Why is this such a big deal. Well, I consider her a tough kid. Consider this...

She was born with her esophagus not connected to her stomach, so every time she ate, the formula went into her lungs. So when she was three days old, she was helicoptered to a different hospital where she had corrective surgery.

She was in the hospital for 5 weeks and afterwards I had to feed her through a feeding tube sticking out of her stomach for three months. She had four surgeries since to correct scar tissue in her throat from her original surgery. Plus one to correct an issue with her tear ducts which after the surgery had her bleeding form her eyes---yipes!!

Additionally, the hospital who did the first surgery couldn't guarantee that she did not get HIV tainted blood during the surgery. Crazy, right!?!?

Thankfully, she is healthy and active today and I love her tremendously. Her mother and I are no longer married and the stress of my daughter's health is a big reason why.

But, I celebrate each October 3rd by looking at pictures of how horrible she looked when she was a newborn with tubes and I.V.s sticking out of her and then looking at her now and I really appreciate every moment I spend with her.

Glad you look at your daughter that way stag. It's good to hear that kind of a story and realize that world has not truly gone to shit and there are still some bright spots
