I just suffered a major computer crash. I'm getting a message that says NTLDR is missing. Any suggestions?

Win2000. Here's the history of the problem so far......

Last week I came home, it looked like the computer had rebooted. It wasn't recognizing the Master or Slave Hardrives, so I went into bios (I'm no computer expert) and looked around, found a way to get the computer to auto detect the hardrives, then rebooted. It worked for a week. Today, I came out of the bathroom and found a blue screen that said it was dumping physical memory. I rebooted and it wasn't recog the harddrives again. So I went into bios and did the same thing. This time, when it rebooted, it got to a point in the load up and said NTLDR is missing. It won't go beyond that point.

I'm thinking I may've gotten a virus. Since I don't use my computer to access the net, I havn't updated my virus definitions in over a year. The computer I use to access the net is supposed to scan files when downloading, but I'm thinking something may have slipped through.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I can't afford another computer, and I don't have any tech savy friends around to help me this time.

I PM'd you with what I found.

Doesn't sound like a virus, though. Especially since you don't use the computer to connect to the internet unless you downloaded some illicit stuff and transferred it to this computer.

Thanks Vis for the info! I need to find my Win disks so I can make a bootable disk. Hopefully this problem won't last too long. I just re-installed Truespace and was working on project for my comics.
