| Astro-Monkey | Seven static webpages. At yourname.com. No advertisers. No pop-up ads from the host. No...whatever the Hell Geocities is doing now. Would you pay $5? $5.50? A month? A year? A decade? My sister is doing freelance web design. A client of hers had their own domain and was hosting it with a large, national company. I figured that this large company was their ISP, and they were cutting costs just using their ISP's free webspace. I was wrong. This large company (Verizon) is charging them $99 a month for seven web pages (3 of which don't get used). They get their internet through Charter, so God only knows what's going on. (For those of you who haven't priced out webspace, for $99 a month, you can get a decent dedicated server). I figure that there has to be something they get that they're not using. But still, $99 for a small business website that can't amount to more than 2-3 MB?!?!?!?! That sounds like highway robbery.

![]() | verizon is my local phone company. They use James Earl Jones in their advertising. As a result, whenever you pick up a public pay phone, you hear his voice. Also, I guess in an effort to pay for Mr. Jone's voice talents, phone calls cost 50 cents in some places, but 25 cents in others. Verizon also doesn't like to provide competent health care to it's workers, as a result, I almost had to punch some old bat who works for the phone company, collecting the coins from the phones because she not only nearly ran me and my dogs down with her van, but when I yelled at her, she got like Bean does when he's really pissed off, but worse! Don't worry, I don't usually take a swing at a lady, but this was no lady... she was a battleaxe! I hate Verizon with a passion. Price gouging bastards, they still call me all the time to ask me if I want their broadband service, and I still tell them "no" and "don't call again", but they do it anyway. Tired, must sleep... the quality of this rant is quickly going downhill. |
