| It's me again | I posted this over at TW, but I was curious to see if any of you have ever gone. There is a Slanted Fedora convention coming up on 1/2-4/2004 out at the Meadowlands just outside of NYC. Has anyone gone to the Slanted Fedora cons? Is it worth the effort to get there? I used to go to the Creaticons held in midtown Manhattan and they were pretty good but crowded. Usually I like to go through the dealer's room to see what they have. Any feedback?

| Astro-Monkey | Slanted Fedora has a reputation of misrepresenting certain details of their (aptly named) cons. Like who'se going to be there, what's going to be there, where it is, and when it's going to be. They managed to piss off Patrick Stewart a few years back by promoting him as being a guest at one of their cons, before they talked to him about it. I *think* they've been sued for advertising guests that had no intention of attending. I've heard stories about them cancelling or changing dates for their cons, but making it really hard to get a refund. Of course, for every horror story I've heard about one of their cons, they probably have ten go off without a hitch. But, for a while, their nickname was the Slanted Ferengi. EDIT: I want to make it perfectly clear. I have no first-hand information about the convention runners. I have never been to a Trek convention.

| It's me again | Understood, I just was wondering if it was worth the effort trying to get to where it is. It is not exactly in a convenient place. The general admission is $10 which is not the issue. Hell I've paid more than that to take a date to see a bad movie. It is just the whole, 40 minute drive, in traffic, looking for a space and then dealing with lines of people (if it is not run right). All of which is a non issue if once you get in there and the dealer's room is decent or the guest are ok.
