Default Buying a round for the house!

Whassup all? I've missed being here, I happened to post at Trekweb on a lark, and didn't want anyone here to think I was dissing the ole Bar. Just been in a wierd place for awhile, can't really explain it. A sense of frustration, borderline depression, anger at society, moments of emotional highs, a long running creative slump, and a growing day to day apathy about everything has been the norm. So I just havn't felt like I've had much to contribute to the over all atmosphere here.

Went to Colorado two weeks ago, finally made it to the top of the tallest mountain, Mt. Elbert, everything going great, damn near perfect. The day before we were supposed to leave, my Mom had a mild heart attack. She spent a night in the Salida hospital, then was taken by ambulance to Colorado Springs a hundred miles away. It got a little scary for awhile, and I, and my older brother and sister, saw my dad cry at times. I've never seen my dad cry in all my life.

My mom's doing better, prolly have to go on dialisis (sp) sooner than they thought. The last couple of days there she urged us to not spend the entire day in the hospital so we got out and saw Colorado Springs abit. I realize that I want to live somewhere like that. Somewhere near the mountains, and away from this hellish heat and humidity. I'm really hating where I live because of that, and because it's so damn dull to look at. Despite all the shit going down in Col, I felt at home there, energized there.

If I'd taken my own truck, I might not have come back. But I did come back , to my shitty job, messy apartment, bills, and all the other shit I just detest. It's been all I can do to not just walk off the job lately. I'm just tired of it all. I'm thinking about moving to Colorado in a couple of years, I want to be where the mountains are, where beautiful vistas are only a few hours away. I guess I just want a change.

At least my shitty situation doesn't involve kids, like Beans. I sympathize with you, and can be thankful that I don't have to deal with that element.

The Reverend Horton Heat will be playing in town this Wed. so I'll be getting out to the show to slam dance and relieve some of that pent up stress. Hopefully I'll feel a bit better. If I could just get out of this creative slump, I'd be happier. I've only put two comics up at Booze! so far this year. We're in the seventh month, for chrisakes!

Anyways, just thought I'd let you guys know what's up......anybody got any good news they'd like to share? I'd rather not get any more morose about things in this thread.

Hellboy will be out on DVD in a few days, that movie fucking ROCKED!! Waited ten years to see it, Hellboy being one of my favorite comics characters of all time.

And Invader Zim is out on DVD as well. You can pick up nine eps for 15.00. I was going to pick up Aqua Teen Hunger Force Vol. 2, but Zim was the better deal. I've been a fan of Zim and Jhonen Vasquez for years. I've always been surprised that Nickelodean would air something as dark as Zim.

Good dark humour, certainly not entirely for kids, and it suits my own grim mood these days. I highly recommend it. The animation is some of the best ever, in the style of Futurama. The whole cel shaded CGI thing. And they've got war fleets!

Now, help yourself to some nacho's.......and Barkeep? Another round for the house.

Hey, glad to see you around!

Personally, I've managed to find a fun job since the last time you were around. They pay me to break things (I just love saying that).

I don't want to piss on your dreams or anything, but you realise living there is going to be just the same, right? I live in a place similar to that which you describe: Mountains, fields, trees, rivers, beaches and all of that, and unless you're qualified for something or start our own business, you will still end up with a shitty job, live in a shitty house, struggle to pay bills and all of that just the same as in the city, and don't get me started on the "redneck" types who dominate small towns.

Yeah, except Lensman doesn't drink some sissy tea. He's one-upped you there.

As for "Hellboy," yeah, it did rock - but I'm waiting for the extended director's cut coming in November.

Hey, tea is way tougher than coffee. Besides, I pity the fool who doesn't say "Tea, Earl Grey, hot".

The day tea gets smuggled by gun-toting hispanics hiding drugs is the day tea gets to be tougher than coffee.

Well, for one thing, coffee is gay, and gay people aren't tough (with the exception of Boy George), and gay people do not drink tea. And furthermore, tea is drunk by British people, who were so tough on your ancestors you had to run away

Except our ancestors kicked your's asses when they came to get us back, and then we had to bail you out of TWO wars against the Germans.
