For your amusement and perusal, I submit to you...

http://brannonbraga.com/2003/Chat/chat_04092003.htm

Interesting comments and a lot of asskissing,

It is nice to know that Brannon is aware that people are displeased.
I hope he really listens to the comments made during this little love-fest.
Even though everyone was really nice and civil to him, they stated a few of the concerns that we've all heard and thought of ourselves.

Anyway, the interview appears to be heavily edited, as is the entire site (read the terms of use)

I think that the complaining has had a positive impact on the show. They're finally going to do something interesting with the series.

I wonder where the show would be if nobody said anything. They'd be ambling along, flying to Cardassia to rescue a Ferengi from the Borg or something, that's where the show would be.

ENT isn't a bad show in and of itself, but compared to the rest of Star Trek, it's pretty bad.

You know, I like ENT. It is not great compared to other TREK (as you say), but it does work for me. I do constantly remind myself that this is a TREK show howevet.

The one thing I will say is that anyone who I get to watch it, that is not a TREK fan or really familiar with TREK, does enjoy the show. So who knows, maybe that is TPTB's goal, to get non-TREK people to watch because they know the core fans will, for the most part, watch the show regardless.

Agreed Stag.

Most people I know who watch the show & enjoy it are those people that really haven't been exposed to previous incarnations of Trek. Personally, I wish I could detach myself from previous Trek so I can enjoy Enterprise too.

Monsters: ;-) does Porthos have his own trailer? I've heard he can be temperamental about working w/o cheeze on set ;-)

Brannon: Monsters. Actually, it is I who will not work without cheese. There is plenty of cheese in my writing, as I'm sure you have seen.
I clipped this from the interview cause I thought it just proves why his Enterprise episodes are laugh-out-loud bad.

BTW - I couldn't stnad reading much more of that interview, I was getting sick.

Yeah, Braga is a totally self absorbed ass monkey (No relation to AstroBar member Pencil Monkey).

Not to jump on the bash Braga bandwagon, but really, I don't know what is worse -- his ego, or his writing skills.

My girlfriend thought ENT was horrible. She came to the conclusion that Dawson's Creek was a much better way to spend her Wednesday nights at 8, and I really can't fault her for that.

She's had limited experience with other Treks: seen all the movies (NEM was the first she saw in theaters, and she liked it), seen the last two seasons of DS9 and found them to be her favorite, liked a smattering of Voyager episodes (mostly because I only saw fit to have her watch the good ones) and season 4 of TNG.

She says, "I used to really like Scott Bakula, too..."

Actually he's my twin brother... but anyway

First off I'm gonna say I'm not reallky a huge fan of Star Trek(I LIKE it, don't get me wrong, just not big fan numero uno) but..
Yea... ENT is kinda craptacular in my eyes... There's just something about the fact that the last 3 episodes I've seen were basically the same stories that I've seen in shows since... well.. birth actually. I'd name names but I rarely stick around on the show long enough to find out the name of the episode. Isn't it great when someone makes a scathing attack on something then can't back it up worth jack..*sigh*.. I love me right now... damn early mornings

"Craptacular" - I like that word a lot. [/quote]

Eldric: Mr Braga, thank you for your perseverance in the face of stiff (unjustified) negative opposition to Enterprise.  You've stood fast like a US Marine on the front lines in Iraq.  It is appreciated.  You attention and exposure to the fans is also very appreciated, especially in light of the bad behavior that you expose yourself to in so doing.  Thank you so much for your continued and unabated attention to the fans who love you and your work. Having said that, and since I can ask only one question, I boil things down to what's most important to me with Enterprise right now, and that is the timeline based adventures.  I have enjoyed them the most; especially the last season finale.  Sulik has been a super-entertaining arch enemy for Archer; almost a reluctant one.  It seems almost as if they could be friends and allies under the right circumstances. Can we look forward to more temporal war episodes and ship to ship combat special effects?
Either this guy is being sarcastic, or he's got the brain of a fucking rocking horse.

Quote:
Trip and T'Pol are suddenly getting along with no real explanation. Trip has had virtually no screen time alone with either Archer or T'Pol to explore what were incredible relationships - it is sad to see these delightful encounters
Somebody's got their adjectives all mixed up. They should all be replaced by "craptacular".

Quote:
Brannon: AmyB. Fresh ideas are always more difficult. The continuity "issues" very often provide us with ideas. By the way, I am now typing for myself. Catherine is not a very good speller.
That is just plain retarded.

Quote:
First, I wanna just say that you wrote my favourite episodes of both Voyager and Enterprise (Future's End and Shuttlepod One) and I wanna acknowledge their excellence
I bet your lips taste like shit.

Quote:
Brannon: Kasia. All of the characters are fun to write. If I had to pick only one, it would be the Captain. The Captains are always the most challenging to write for because they have to be so damn smart.
Well, it looks like it's far too challenging for you, since both your captains have been totally retarded.

Quote:
Brannon: Monsters. Actually, it is I who will not work without cheese. There is plenty of cheese in my writing, as I'm sure you have seen.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

Quote:
Will we be seeing more Hoshi-centric episodes in the future that explore more of her developing character?
You don't have to outright lie...

Quote:
Brannon: Bandy. Wow. We feel that the trip/Archer relationship is alive and well. In fact, there is an upcoming episode where you get to see how they met. It's called "First Flight”
I saw it, wasn't a big deal.

Quote:
Puffins: I've thoroughly enjoyed the ensemble shows we've had this year like "Singularity" and "The Crossing". It is awesome to see everyone get a chance to interact with each other, as they are all great performers. Are we likely to continue to get these? And can we get (lots) more of them?
You should be locked up.

Quote:
Kalita: Mr. Braga, as an Australian viewer, I’d like to mention how much we have appreciated hearing mention of our nation in some episodes. Archer and Trip did survival training there, and there was a mention of Brisbane once (my hometown!) I was wondering if there are plans to expand on that background at all?
How very exciting for you

Quote:
Bucky: Mr. Braga, I'm one of those fans of "Enterprise" that watches every episode and tapes it at the same time (LOL).  I love the character interactions, but I've been put off by how much T'Pol has been sexualized.  Any chance you'll back off on that? I don't *mind* the sexuality, it's just that she's such an interesting character, and sometimes that's all we see.

Brannon: you may have noticed that the men on the crew are pretty sexy, too.
Really? Why aren't they wearing catsuits then?

Quote:
Brannon: JLRodgers. One hours are easier. By far. Concluding those 2-parters is always a huge challenge.
Interesting how you like to play it safe.

Quote:
Brannon: Myst123. No romantic plans right now. It's just not the way we're going... BUT you never know what might happen. Sometimes stories emerge the Troi/Worf thing came out of thin air.
And amounted to just as much...

Quote:
Brannon: Simon, though we have dealt with a number of social issues in the first two seasons. Detained dealt with racial profiling... Stigma dealt with intolerance... But I wish we'd done more of these types of shows so far. I think they are a vital ingredient in the Star Trek recipe. The problem is these kinds of stories are hard to come by. We don't want to tackle an issue unless we can do it in a subtle way using a science-fiction metaphor.  I agree we need more
Is there any part of writing you don't find difficult?

Quote:
Brannon: The most important thing, in my opinion, to strike a balance between a good sci-fi concept, character development, fresh action, and, if we're lucky, a little something to think about.
There should always be something to think about, that's the basis of Trek. You aren't supposed to just watch the episode, then forget about it, you're supposed to think about what it said.

Quote:
Eldric: Brannon:  I think that you have been doing a good job and I think the negative people are a by product of today's society, and don't have anything to do with the actual show quality
You, sir, are an idiot.

Quote:
Dustin: Brannon, Is Q going to show up anytime soon?

Brannon: Dustin. No, I don't plan to make any guest appearances on the show.
Lyekka: rofl

Andorino: lol Brannon's funny

Marsha: not even for cheese?

PJinNH: you're such a tease, Brannon! ;-)

Eldric: Hey Brannon, you could be a Vulcan captain.

Puffins: brannon: we'll take teases!!!

Thalaxian:  :-)

What are you people? 5?

This interview bothered the fuck out of me.
