![]() | The Digital Millenium Copyright Act is a serious problem. Someone needs to brainstorm and enact a means of distributing media. It's amazing that these media giants expect the world to play by their "rules" as technology marches on. Who in their right minds would expect people not to download things like the new Galactica? If these people had an ounce of grey matter left in their atrophied brains, they'd figure out a way to use internet exposure to bolster their product instead of willfully percieving it as a threat. Let's face it, there is a major line of seperation between the way things were done in the 20th century, and the way things are done today. The digital revolution is in full swing now. The digital medium has one major weak point, you can do almost anything with things digital. Celluloid mavens must come to grips with this fact and deal with it in a way that benefits them and doesn't punish the user for wanting a little entertainment. This could be the reason why "reality television" is so popular. I just saw a billboard for a reality show that essentially follows Farrah Fawcett around. I guess after Donald Trump's show, anything is possible. I predict a type of reality television where there are no professional actors, just plain folks will play the parts, kinda like "The Real Gilligan's Island". The entertainment landscape is changing, if they haven't done it yet, look for "reality films" (formerly called 'documentaries) to be the next big thing. Of course, you won't have to go to the movies to see them, they'll probably be downloadable on KaZaa, Bittorrent, and the like. |
