| Astro-Monkey | Why are people so gung-ho over a Titan series/movie with Frakes and Sirtis? I've never been a huge Riker fan, and the movies essentially ruined his character for me (First Contact being the only one to not feature the 'Riker Maneuver'). But, even on Next Generation, the guy's chair had more charisma than he did. Putting him center chair for an hour would do more for insomniacs than the first two seasons of Enterprise. What's the attraction?

| Religious Fanatic | A return to the favourite time-period of Trek, familiar characters, no more prequel bullshit, more plausible series crossovers, and the answer to a lot of questions that we would all like to see answered.

| The Awesome One | Personally, Riker was probably my second favourite character on the show. I agree that the movies haven't really done him justice, and I don't think Frakes is nearly as good a filmmaker as he thinkhs, but I wouldn't mind seeing the adventures of the Titan.

| Religious Fanatic | Riker was my 4th favourite character on TNG, but I'd still like to see a Titan series, or any new 24th century series. Frakes/Riker were decent enough during TNG, he has what it takes to lead a TV show, just not as much as Shatner or Stewart.

![]() | Well, I always liked Riker, though he was never my my favorite character in TNG. I guess the attraction is a chance to see at least him and Troi again, when we can't see Picard or Data (or Worf)... The show would probably be bad, but not worse than the crap they're putting out these days... |

| The Awesome One | Wow.. Long time no see Siroth, welcome back ![]() I think the attraction for me is purely nostalgia for TNG. I'm sure that whatever they put out I'd probably be dissapointed with, but I'd still prefer it ov ENT.

![]() | To be perfectly honest, I don't think I could categorize ANY of the 10 "Star Trek" feature films as "terrible". The worst one for me is "Insurrection," and even then it's only just a mediocre film. I still stand by my opinion that "Nemesis" is far from the degenerate trash so many people claim it to be. As for a "Titan" series, I could give or take. I'm really of the opinion that I'll give anything a fair chance. It's all in the execution of the show. If they made a good show, I couldn't give a shit WHO the characters are or what time period it takes place in. I think too many fans are stuck in thinking that its those kinds of details that make or break a good "Star Trek" show, or any show, for that matter. But a good police procedural is a good police procedural, whether it takes place in New York or LA or fucking Shanghai for all I care.

![]() | You honestly think "Insurrection" is worse than "The Final Frontier"? I have to disagree with you there... Not because I particularly like "Insurrection" (you're right - it was rather mediocre), but at least there were a few scenes in there that I liked, unlike Star Trek V. I do agree that "Nemesis" is not terrible, though. It seems a lot of people slam simply because for all sorts of other convenient reasons - because they want to slam Berman, because Data dies, because they're disappointed with current Trek in general, or whatever other reasons they might. At least that's how it looks to me. The problem with "Nemesis" was not that it was a bad story, but that it was a fairly deep plot that the producer and director insisted on doing as a straight action-flick... And they couldn't even do that. The scene where the Enterprise collides with the Scimitar is supposed to be shocking, but watching the two ships getting closer in slow-motion is just dull next to the battle-scenes at the end of Star Wars II or similar. Shinzon is also boring, and I still think it would have been better to let Stewart play both roles... But no, it's not bad, just far short of its potential. The short version for doing quality trek is to tell interesting and thought-provoking sci-fi stories. That's it! That's all there is to it. But since "thought-provoking" can mean "controversial", that's not likely to happen...
