| The Awesome One | Wow, that was a really good episode. They seem to have continued the feel of last weeks episode rather well. And once again, I'd like to say that Bakula's acting was almost tolerable. There were parts where it was almost good. Now, there were many more parts where it was carboard acting, but he does seem to be improving. Hell, maybe if the show hadn't been cancelled, by season 7 he might actually be good MORE than not. As for the episode itself, it was a fanboy's dream come true. Seeing the Vulcan, Andorian, and Tellarite ships come to the rescue of Enterprise almost had me teared up. Although there were a few aspects I didn't care for. There were too many "Ok, let's dramatically shake hands and agree on an alliance" scenes for my taste. They should have saved them all for the end, and just had one big "We can work this out for honor's sake" scene. Archer and Shran seemed to have these revealing moments at least three seperate times throughout the episode. One thing I was really impressed with, and I swear this has to be one of the best shots I've seen in Star Trek. Was when the allied fleet took off into warp after the drone, and Malcom and Trip were left drifting in space. When Archer came over the com and asked if they needed a lift, I figured that the camera would pan and we'd get a far off shot of the Enterprise coming to pick them up. I completley didn't expect to see the ship come towering over them like it did. It was really well done. I'm not holding out my hopes for next weeks episode, as it seems like it's going to be another T'pol ep, but who knows, it might just be like Archers acting this week, tolerable..

| The Awesome One | Oh, of course. So not only is it gonna be a T'pol episode, it's gonna get the best character on the show off to another ship... WONderful!

![]() | I dunno, I think it's a move that's rather daring for the show that so often plays it safe. It was a great time when DS9 split up their cast for six episodes in Season 6, and I think it'll work well here. It expands the universe that ENT takes place in, which is one of the complaints I've had about the show is that we rarely ever got a sense of what the galaxy was really like because all we ever saw was the Enterprise stopping at some random planet or something. By focusing so much this year on the real galactic politics, and by expanding its roster of characters, I think ENT's universe has really solidified into something a bit more tangible. I get a something of a sense of the galaxy that I really haven't had since DS9 (because TNG often stayed so comfortably within the Federation borders, and Voyager was conveniently removed from the Federtion entirely). Plus it's a dramatic move, likely to cause a stir amongst the characters, which is always good.

My problem was the music. That shot just seemed to SCREAM for the "Star Trek" theme, the iconic Alexander Courage fanfare. Instead, we got a fairly blah arrangement of horns. I don't MIND that, per se, but imagine how much more powerful that would have been with that music there.

| The Awesome One | Well, I'm sure it would have been much more powerful with the right music like you say, but that doesn't really detract from it any. I had almost the same affect on me as the scene in Star Trek IV at the end, when they come over the saver of the Excelsior to see the Enterprise A there waiting for them. I mean, in the movie, it was 100 times more powerful and almost choked me up the first time I saw it, but it was the same type of thing in United. Of course now that I think of it, they DID use the theme in the movie for that part...

![]() | ![]() You'd be surprised how much difference music can make to a film or tv show.

| Religious Fanatic | I've always been pissed at the lack of Enterprise trademarks on Enterprise, I mean, no fanfare, No "Boldly Go" prologue, and they don't even refer to it as THE Enterprise
