![]() | Anyone remember seeing Star Blazers as a kid (if you're old enough to admit it)? I do, and remember loving it. They've come out recently on DVD. Anyone rewatch it? Is it as good as I remember or are my memories tinged by being too young to know any better? Netflix doesn't have them for rent (yet, I put a request in) and I'm not sure I want to spend wads of cash on a DVD I won't like.

![]() | Yeah yeah yeah, you young whippersnapper, stop rubbing it in or I'll run you over with my walker.. just stand right there a few minutes, I'll get to ya! Actually, I'm almost 37, so I'm not that old. Star Blazers was one of the first Anime (they didn't use that word yet) series to make it to the USA (it's aka "Space Cruiser Yamato"). Another one I remember is "Battle Of The Planets". The animation is crude by today's standards but from the reviews I've read the storyline and characters are supposed to be as good as I remember. Just wanted to see if anyone else could give me insight.

| Lover AND a Fighter | Ya ya ya! I remember watching that show! The Yamato looked like a battleship in space right? I was a big Battle of the Planets or "G-Force" fan too. It was called G-Force when I watched it anyway. Yep I was a geek when I was 5 too.

![]() | Hey, that's okay, I had the 12 inch tall Star Trek figures and the transporter when I was that young. Wish I still had 'em they're worth mint! You're remembering the right shows. The Yamato had the big "wave motion gun" in the front. Some of the science was accurate and some was way off, so it was more a space soap opera or fantasy than true sci-fi. The first season was to save the earth from lethal radiation, and the second was to confront "the Comet Empire" and to do it the Yamato crew had to break with the rest of the fleet (very similar and years before "The Search For Spock"). I hear there was a 3rd that didn't make it to the US. I think when the other one was called "G-Force" they'd changed the voices and stuff too. I was a huge fan of that show too. Other shows I remember: Voltron, Transformers, He-Man, Star Command...
