Default "Star Wars: A Musical Journey"

Just got the "Episode III" soundtrack which came with a DVD of music videos of music from all six movies. Fantastic. I highly recommend it, for those soundtrack fans out there.

The DVD is... Imagine someone decided to make a bunch of "Star Wars Saga" trailers, and put them all in chronological order. It's pretty damn awesome.

"A Long Time Ago" - Star Wars main title, and has footage from all six movies.
"Dark Forces Conspire" - "Duel of the Fates" from Episode I, but with footage from the three prequels.

"A Hero Ries" - "Anakin's Theme" from Episode I, with footage of young Anakin in Episode I, and a bit from Episode II as a bit of musical foreshadowing occurs at the end of the theme.

"A Fateful Love" - Williams' utterly fantastic "Across the Stars" love theme from Episode II. If only the romance in the movie was this amazing... Set to footage mostly from Episode II. The montage of footage actually works much better than the story actually does in the movie.

"A Hero Falls" - "Battle of the Heroes" from Episode III. This one is about four and a half minutes of action and special effects from Episode III. It looks badass as all hell and sounds great. If only I didn't think the movie around it would suck...

"An Empire is Forged" - "The Imperial March" from Empire Strikes Back. Mostly footage from of Vader choking Imperial officers, but pretty cool nonetheless.

"A Planet That is Farthest From" - Tatooine and Jawa music from A New Hope. Meh. Mostly C-3PO and R2-D2 wandering the desert and then getting nabbed by Jawas.

"An Unlikely Alliance" - "Binary Sunset" and the Cantina music from New Hope. I would have preferred to have Binary Sunset and the track from when Luke finds Owen and Beru blasted to bits rather than the Cantina music. The two don't really go together, and I have to wonder why anyone thought they should.

"A Defender Emerges" - Leia's theme. All Leia, all the time. A great theme, though.

"A Daring Rescue" - "Obi-Wan's Death and TIE Fighter Attack" from New Hope. Lots of action and special effects shots.

"A Jedi is Trained" - Yoda's theme, with mostly footage of Yoda from Empire, but with a bit of the others sprinkled in.

"A Narrow Escape" - The Asteroid Field chase music from Empire. Awesome. Mostly just the effects shots from that scene in Empire, but sprinkled in with the asteroid chase from Episode II, as well, and some of the pod race from Episode I.

"A Bond Unbroken" - Luke and Leia's theme from Return of the Jedi. Lots of shots of them hugging and whatnot. I don't believe the full-on kiss from Empire is in there, though. I think someone didn't think that would go well with the "brother and sister" introduction by Ian McDirmid.

"A Sanctuary Moon" - The Forest Battle music from Return of the Jedi. If you hate Ewoks and Gungans, you sould probably avoid this one. It's good music, but, y'know... Ewoks and Gungans.

"A Life Redeemed" - The Vader funeral music from Return of the Jedi. Well cut between images of Vader dying and burning on his pyre to shots of Anakin from all three prequels.

"A New Day Dawns" - "The Throne Room" from the end of A New Hope with shots from all the movies of various victories and people celebrating. Very cool. Goes right into the end title, which, sadly instead of being another music video, is just the credits for the DVD. But still worth listening to.

See, you really should get the Scarface Sountrack, just so you can see the look on people's faces when you drive down the street with "Push it to the limit" blasting out the windows.

Well, it's not exactly a brainy flick, but it just rocks simply for the fact there's so many memoralble lines, especially since they're all said with a cuban accent.

This week's favourite is:

"Hwhy dontch choo chry shticking cho head up cho ass - shee if eet feets.."

Y'know, "try" probably doesn't need to be spelt as "chry"....
