| "It's a faaaake!" | Film Jerk has posted a review expressing disappointment with Eliza Dushku's new series, Tru Calling. Also, aside from its lackluster debut, another hurdle for the show to overcome will be its competition in the forms of Survivor and Friends. One article is hardly enough to damn a show... but maybe Faith will be coming back, after all.

![]() | It's okay, to each his own. I thought her character brought a dimension to the good guy side that was missing in Buffy, she did a better job emphasizing the fact that the Slayers live near the edge of becoming what they fought (that is, evil) than Buffy usually did - or maybe more accurately, brought it into focus, as Buffy also had to deal with that to deal with Faith. When she was on Angel the first time around she also helped deal with the "walking the line" nature of the Slayers. The second time around it was nice to see her but they muted that issue somewhat. I'm not sure what role she'd play in Angel's latest adventures, not having seen them yet, but I'm thinking maybe it's time to put her character to rest (at least for a long while). The big open issue in my mind in the Buffy/Angel universe is now that there are all these untrained Slayers running around, there are bound to be some (perhaps a whole bunch) who will "fall to the dark side", so to speak - and really, don't the Slayers take the role of the Jedi Knights in this universe?

| Astro-Monkey | Oh yeah. In literature, my favorite stories are those about ordiary people pushed to extremes, and how they deal (or don't deal). I just got really sick of Faith the character after a while. I thought that her "redemption" in Angel S1 was the best thing they did with her. Maybe I ruined myself when I watched Angel S1 before Buffy S3 (I'm going through the DVDs). ![]()

![]() | There have been several times over the last few years that I thought Angel was actually better than Buffy, especially when they tried making those three annoying guys the bad guys. I didn't think much of Riley and the Initiative either. On the other hand, I didn't think much of the Connor character as a teenager. I just wanted to dope-slap him (or Angel for putting up with him) on several occasions.
