Default bah!

It seems Volume 5 of Season 7 of "SG-1" has some issues... Need to go through the hassle of returning it until I get one that works. I can't watch "Heroes, Part 2" or "Lost City". What a pain in the ass.

And Volume 5 of Season 8 apparently has an episode, "Threads", that's missing 15 minutes worth of footage, and I bought the set too late to qualify for the disc replacement, which only covers purchases until 12/31/05. What a pain in the ass.

Wow, the best episodes of both seasons happen to be the ones on malfunctioning discs. Odd.

Yeah, seriously. "Threads" is apparently the 43-minute syndication version, so it's not that there's a problem with the disc, just that it's not the right episode. I've emailed Sony customer service to see if they'll still give me a replacement, but I suppose I'll be OK with it if I can't.

But Season 7 is the one with the malfunctioning disc. "Heroes, Part 2" cuts out halfway through as General Hammond is asking Jackson to hand over the tape of him and Fraisier working on that wouned soldier in the field. And "Lost City" won't play at all. I'm fairly pissed, since "Heroes" was turning out to be one of the best episodes of the entire series that I've seen so far.

My season 7 was defective in the exact same place.

Funny how that works.

I'm glad I checked my bulk mail this time instead of just hitting "empty" like I usually do. The response from customer service asking if I wanted a pre-paid shipping label to mail the defective disc back to them for a replacement came to my bulkmail instead of my inbox for some reason.

Working in customer service myself, I knew it'd probably be worth writing to them about it. Big companies almost always have exceptions to things like this. Sweet deal.
