| "It's a faaaake!" | I'd say the latter because the Starfleet Academy idea is too fucking retarded.

| Religious Fanatic | Startrek.com has posted about it and they're expecting a press release from Paramount pretty soon. Looks like this shit is legit. If StarTrek.com is posting about it, it's got to have some sort of officialness to it.

| Astro-Monkey | If Startrek.com is posting about it, it just means that it's been out there long enough for them to have heard it. ![]()

| The Awesome One | Startrek.com has as much connection with Paramount as Trekweb does... the difference is, they can get permission to use all the media, pictures, logos etc.... that they want.

![]() | Good question... will it ever be made? I dunno, but it sure fun seeing all the Scorned clones react to it. I mean, it's an idea with only a few details and it hasn't even been formally written or filmed yet. Time will unravel this for us, eventually. |

| Religious Fanatic | The good thing is, I can now use Trekweb for the purpose I originally signed up for - to argue about Star Trek and call people stupid, and this has to be the most controversial decision since...at least TNG.

![]() | What's amazing to me is how small minded people are being about a film that hasn't been made yet. People seem to forget that Rick Berman is not working on this film too. Everyone who has spoken against this film so far has not been able to defend their points as to why it's a bad direction for Star Trek to take. It's as if a quarter of the posters over there are channeling Scorned. I think we know who the REAL fans are, they're the ones who want a good story. The fake fans just want to see a bunch of canon, and maybe some starship battles in space with big explosions, kill some aliens, that sort of thing. What I like most of all about the controversy surrounding all of this is that maybe the franchise will lose the idiot portion of the fanbase that cares more about canon than a good story. Star Trek won't even miss them if they do bail, and I say good riddance. But of course, we're all going to have to wait until 2008 to know for sure what the film entails. ![]() |

![]() | I don't like the sound of the premise, so I hope they're not going to do what it sounds like they'll do.
