| The Awesome One | Just wondering, it's been out for two nights now, and I've read a few spectacular reviews. I haven't seen it myself, going tomorrow night. Also, does anyone else find it weird that after 2 nights this isn't online yet?

| It's me again | I am going tonight. My daughter is in town and we are going. I read the book and the story holds up ok to integrate the new movie with the old series of films. Now lets see how well they visualize it. |

| The Dude | I was quite "wowed" by the action sequences. It's well-shot, well-edited (though the pacing is a bit wonky in the first half) good score from John Ottman. Spacey owns as Luthor and Routh nails Clark Kent. As for the rest of it... I think I really need to see it again without all the hype and expectations to really dig into Superman and Lois. My first viewing is a solid "A-" grade, but I had trouble watching it and truly getting into it without having that feeling like, "Where's Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder?" Because it's DEFINITELY a sequel to those movies, but it has a slightly different feel that comes with having a new production team and cast. I have to see it again... and that ain't a bad thing. ![]() But watching Singer make another great comic book film really makes me sad that "X-Men 3" had to turn out so god-awful. I was almost hoping that somewhere in this movie, Superman would piss all over Fox or something. But that just didn't happen. The end credits states that the film is dedicated to Christopher and Dana Reeve. Personally, I thought this should have been at the beginning of the picture. But hey, it's cool regardless.

| It's me again | I have to agree with the exception of one thing - the Christopher Reeve Margot Kidder comment. I thought Routh was a good, complimentary pick to "replace" Reeve, I thought he blended into the part fairly seemlessly. I was glad to see Kidder replaced, I could not stand her version of Lois Lane and I found this version far more believable and could understand the attraction between the two better this time around. IMHO, this version of Superman struck the right chord and Superman certainly comes across as more heroic then in the originals. The originals were far too campy and cheesy for my taste, this film is a serious take on the subject much like Batman Begins. Clark Kent is not the unbelievable doofus/dork that Reeve portrayed. Instead he is a nice, if awkward around people, small town guy in the big city. I thought it was handled well. The effects are excellent, although one or two times some of the CGI appeared cartoonish to me. However, the opening scene of Krypton and its destruction was, I thought, fantastic. It was nice to see the original actors who played Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane once again make cameos. I am not a big follower of the recent comic book history of Superman, but I definitely got a sense they were trying to integrate some of that backstory into the movie as well. Having read the novelization of the film, I would like to have seen more of an explanation of the trip to Krypton that the book gives to explain why Superman disappeared. I think it would have better set up the story. All in all, I too will see this again because I enjoyed it and I felt like I missed some things because I was trying too hard to catch everything. Oh yeah, Kevin Spacey definitely owns Lex Luthor...what a deliciously evil bastard. |

| The Awesome One | I have yet to see it, but from what I've been reading online, there was a sequence that was cut that dealt more with the explanation of the trip to Krypton. Apparently it was a pretty big scene and not just some random 20 second clip. Hopefully I'll get to see it this weekend. I'm working tonight until 11 and then it's Canada Day tomorrow, so it looks like it'll be a matinee on Sunday. Of course, we all realize that I'm probably gonna break down and download it before then, but I'll still go see it in the theatre anyways. One question though for those of you who saw it, the opening credits... did they do the same thing that was in the original with the names kind of "flying by" the screen?

![]() | Stylistically speaking, I never liked the Reeve Superman movies. The first one was good though, but they got progressively worse up until they did that one with the guy in the orange wrestling tights, I don't even remember the name of that one. I'm also irritated that they've NEVER done any live action films with Myxyzptlk. That's one of my favorite villains because he's so bizarre and magical, probably why I like Q from Trek. Anyway, based on what I've seen so far, this new Superman film looks heaps better than any of the previous ones. |

| Patrons | Saw the movie a few weeks ago. I really liked it, I thought the action and story line were excellent and of course the actors were right for their roles, but i was a bit dissapointed with the costume and set designs. Overall.... a great movie. Spacey as Lex.... EXCELLENT choice!!!!! Iv'e always had some sort of sick admraiton for Lex Luthor and all I can say about my boy, he's always been a little..... off but he really went over the edge this time! .... bring it back baby! bring it back! Superman Returns: 4 1/2 stars out of 5! I will watch this movie again! Lex: ....come on, you know you want to say it.
