![]() | "The Tao of Rodney" Meh. There's some funny bits, but I really don't know why we had this episode and it never really struck a chord with me throughout the story. I don't think we really learned anything new about McKay or ascension. The climactic scene in the infirmary was very flat, like everyone fully expected McKay to come out okay - they just didn't really seem worried about him at all, despite the number of times we're beaten over the head in this episode with the idea that he'll die if he doesn't ascend. So again, I say, meh.

| The Awesome One | Really? I loved this episode for what it was. Development for Rodney. The scenes with Rodney making his peace with the other main characters were great. I was actully finding myself feeling a little emotional when he was talking to Zelenka. Oh well, to each his own I guess. Maybe I'm biased too though, Rodney is my favourite character on either of the SG shows.

![]() | But I didn't feel like he was developing at all. He apologized to Zelenka, and that was a good scene, but by the end of the episode he was no different than he was when he'd started. The episode earlier this year with McKay's sister was better and more interesting.

| The Awesome One | And I didn't see that at the end of the episode. I mean, sure he wasn't running around having heart to heart talks with everyone, but that's natural behavior. Keep in mind that we didn't see much of him after he was changed back at all. We got that conversation between him and Weir, and if you think about it, he didn't say anything distinctly "Rodney" at all. You could even go so far as to put Shepard in their instead and the same dialogue would still fit.

![]() | It was that selfish "You love me" bit... "I always sensed something between us" or whatever. Totally Rodney. And none of that fixes the limp climax, either.

| The Awesome One | You see, that's where our different take on the ep is coming from. I found the "You love me" bit cute and somewhat touching. To me it didn't seem like Rodney being cocky as usual, but adressing an issue and trying to add some levity to it to make himself feel more comfortable. Kinda his way of saying "I'm glad to hear it" without actually getting sentimental. And although the climax was a little limp as you said, I'm glad he didn't ascend. I think they went overboard with people ascendng on SG-1, namely Daniel. I got so tired of it that when the possibility was mentioned in this episode I actually cringed a bit.
