Default Transformers Movie Review - no spoilers

Just got back, it is late so I won't get into Brikar-like detail. He can do it far better then me. I will tell you I have not enjoyed a movie like this for quite a while.

I admit I do not know much of the Transformer canon (if you will) but I know the basics.

High Points
-Effects were outstanding, although at times it was touch to deterimine who was a Decepticon and who was an Autobot.
-Hot chick
-Soundtrack was good
-Light humor, if a bit too much at times
-Great jab at GW Bush

Low Points
-John Turtoro character was lame
-Story seemed to suffer a bit due to some editing decisions
-Starscream Megatron backstory hinted at but not gone into - why bring it up??

I await Brikar's far more insightful review. But there are the basics. I will see this one again, I really did enjoy it.

I just watched it last night as well, I thought it was really well done. Not for the hardcore Transformers fans mind you.

I'm not sure I'm really gonna say anything more insightful. It was hella fun. Big, badass robots kicking the shit out of each other was exceedingly entertaining, and its the only movie besides "Hot Fuzz" and "The Simpsons" that I bothered to see more than once this year.

It completely washed the bad taste of "Spider-Man 3" out of my mouth.

I've had the special edition for 2 months now, though it was likely released here before it was over there.

Upon a little research I'm not sure if there is a release other than the 2-disc "special edition" at the moment, though the HD DVD version allegedly has more extras than any DVD release. The 2 disc set is awesome though, so I would advise buying that over anything else you might find.

Though I actually thought the "making of" was a little thin, it's got four commentary tracks, diary featurettes, a trivia track and a bunch of other stuff. My favourites were "Dead Right"; a laughably crappy super 8 film made by the director when he was 18 (which has it's own commentary tracks), and the brilliant collection of scenes with the swearwords taken out "for contractual obligations". Seeing Pegg yell "Pack it in, Frank, you silly barstool!" was priceless.
