Default "The Incredible Hulk" trailer

http://media.movies.ign.com/media/56...36/vids_1.html

The CG doesn't even look as good as the last one.

I hate the film industry's heavy reliance on CGI. Too much CGI makes a movie look like absolute ass. I just don't understand why filmmakers don't use models anymore. Judging by the skyrocketing budgets of summer blockbusters over the past ten years or so, models are cheaper, and they certainly take less time.

I think filmmakers are just too lazy to be creative anymore.

I think it was a really good trailer, but I agree with the CGI comments. Especially CGI vs models. One of my biggest complaints about Trek was that they traded in models (which were always excellently done) for CGI. Sure that meant we got massive fleets like in DS9, but the ships always looked just a bit off. Whereas the models always had a look of realism to them, that CGI has yet to match.

The closest to realism I've ever seen a computer graphic get was Cymro's keyboard. More complex things, especially people and animals, will never get there, I fear.

It's all about lighting and motion, just like with model work. Bad lighting and compositing will kill a model shot just as it will a CG shot. CG is much quicker than model work, and as a result, easier to rush and screw up.

Well honestly, I have yet to see CG work that I find on par with model work. The best CG I've seen is in the Final Fantasy movies, or LOTR. But both of those movies took years to complete, so I'm not hopeful that Trek or any other "mass produced" entertainment is going to hop on board anytime soon.

Even Gabe's Enterprise D in TATV stood out as slightly off from the model shots in TNG. It just didn't seem "right". I'm not sure how to explain it. It was beautiful to be sure, but just not right.

I found the LOTR CG to be rather dodgy, personally. A lot of obvious green-screen work and sub-par character animation. But I give it a pass because there's literally so much going on in those three movies.

I think a lot of people have trouble with CG because the brain KNOWS it's fake, no matter how real it looks. A model has a certain different quality to it that the mind can accept easier because it's still a "real" object, just one that's trying to trick you.
