| The Awesome One | LINK While I love the trailer, and Max Payne is probably one of the better video game choices to base a movie on, I'm appalled that they cast Mark Wahlberg as Max. I hate this guy. He's a horrible actor. He's never been convincing for me in any role. Oh well, here's hoping he surprises me....

![]() | I don't mind Wahlberg. He's never really stood out to me in either a really great or really terrible way (though, I hear "The Happening" is shit-tacular) - but he certainly looks the part of Max Payne. What's more surprising is that this movie doesn't look like crap, as most other videogame adaptations tend to be.

| The Awesome One | I just saw The Happening and what you heard is right. It was shitty. It really wasn't that bad of a movie, it just wasn't a good one. There was no real "resolution" or any real adversity for the characters to overcome. It was essentially like this: 1. Event starts 2. Characters run, bad things happen 3. Event stops There was really no overall point to it. The characters didn't really serve to advance the plot of the "event", and the mild amount of character drama, and by mild I mean almost none, was ruined by Marky Mark. There was no real mystery, a secondary character says "I think this is what it is" 20 mins into the movie and that is EXACTLY what it is. There's no added details, no further explanation, nor is any needed. No plot twist, no surprise ending, no "characters stopping it". It starts, they run, it ends. That's it! They essentially bungle their way to the end of the movie. As for the trailer, I agree, this looks like an amazing take. Although I could see the guy who played the punisher looking better for the role than Wahlberg, and we know he's a much better actor for the part. Let's face it, Max Payne is essentially The Punisher with some Clint Eastwood thrown in.

| Religious Fanatic | Someone mentioned The Punisher and it reminded me of that awesome half a Megadeth song that's about The Punisher
