Default The Dark Knight (Now WITH spoilers)

Just got back from watching it, so I'm gonna wait till it fully sinks in before I say too much about it. Needless to say, it was really good. I don't think it quite lived up to my expectations, but Ledger OWNED as the Joker.

Just think "The Killing Joke" with a HUGE overdose on crazy.

I really liked it. Me and my gf were two of about twelve people in a giant theater at 11:00am.

Can't say a damned thing about it that isn't spoilerific.

Whoa. That was INTENSE.

Heath Ledger was freakin' amazing. I have some minor quibbles, but overall, absolutely a fantastic friggin' flick.

I couldn't believe the gross number of parents that brought their 5-10 year old kids with them when I saw it.

I think a lot of people just assume that Batman is okay for kids to watch. How many of those kids were crying and freaked out at the end of that movie? It was a hardcore PG-13. I'm almost surprised it wasn't R, with such disturbing subject matter.

Ok, so I have to say it... Did anyone else find the ending overly drawn out and a bit convoluted? I really loved the movie, but the ending didn't give me quite the satisfaction I was looking for. They spent the entire movie building up the Joker, and the confrontation between him and Batman, and then focused on Harvey to end it.

I felt like the last 25% of the movie was filler. Was difficult to watch. I also didn't like Harvey's nice, clean, unburned, functional eyeball surrounded by bone and charred flesh.

Oh, the irony: In the last Batman franchise, almost all the villains are killed in the end, including the Joker. In this one, the Joker lives, but the actor dies. Wonder who they'll get to replace him.

I actually didn't mind the ending. Harvey was the Joker's last attack on Gotham...he tried to guarantee that any hope and good will that Harvey Dent had spawned would die.

I think I'd rather they did the Harvey Dent sequence before the final confrontation with the Joker...Joker tells Batman about Harvey Dent, and then Batman tells the Joker that he lost.

But, I was really struck by the final sequence. The entire movie was pushing that "there's a line that Batman wouldn't cross", but in order to save Gotham, Batman had to become a murderer. Even though he didn't kill anyone.

The next movie is going to be interesting.
