| Religious Fanatic | I just accidentally stumbled on this story from last year. What the fuck? How phenomenally bad would that have turned out? Jesus. Why can't psychos go shoot up board rooms instead of schools?

| The Awesome One | I'm not sure why EA would WANT to takeover Take 2 to begin with. Grand Theft Auto is the flagship game, and there's no way with their "family values" that EA would publish a sequel. The only thing I can think is that they wanted to take them over merely to kill the competition.

| Religious Fanatic | That's kinda why I'm horrified. Though EA did publish "The Godfather", which was at least fairly violent, but was Sesame street compared to the stuff Take-Two publishes. Could you imagine just how bad Rockstar's (and that's who we're really talking about) franchises would be with EA's influence? I have my issues with Rockstar - particularly their PC ports, and even more particularly GTA IV, but underneath the bugs and the lack of optimization the game itself is...just...phenomenal. EA would just gut them, take the franchise, take the money away, sell two more games based on name recognition alone before people realised the franchise wasn't what it was and then it would die a disgusting death as a shadow of it's former self.

| Cymro's Bitch | That would be horrible. 2K Sports games are much better than their EA counterparts. And what would EA do to the Elder Scrolls series? No, this would have been horrible.

| The Awesome One | Cymro, I really don't think EA would release another GTA title. I think they would have buried the whole franchise. The Godfather, while a decent enough game, was nothing compared to GTA which it was obviously styled after. I think they would have bought the company, continued production on whatever GTA game Rockstar is working on (and let's face it, you know that GTA5 is already in the pipes) and then they would have caved to public outrage at the potential release of another GTA game. They would have gutted the studio, kept the name brand just to slap it on some future GTA close (The Godfather?) and we'd never get another GTA game again. This has been EA's style over the last decade. If there's another company that releases a kick ass game, they buy that company. Not necesarily to gain that particular product, often enough they buy the company just to bury the game. I have to agree with your assessment of GTA4. I've played about 10 minutes of it on the 360, couldn't get it to run on my PC despite a video upgrade, and running at the lowest possible settings. But still, it's a phenomenal game. Hopefully now that I have a PS3 I'll have a few extra bucks to go out and buy it in a week. I don't fault Rockstar for this either. They had a choice, make the game easier to run, or make it difficult to run, but give themselves the chance to go all out creatively, I think they made the right choice.
