![]() | The A/V quality is fantastic. This show has never looked better. The DVDs are atrocious compared to this. That said, it doesn't hold up to something absolutely top-of-the-line, like, say the IMAX sequences in "The Dark Knight" - but as far as TV shows go, this is A+. There's lots of grit and grain, but that's added on purpose, so I can't ever fault the transfer for it, as it's an artistic choice. A show like "Lost", for example, is presented much more cleanly on purpose. But the level of detail is astounding on these BSG discs. The scene where Adama, drunk, goes to Tigh's quarters and puts a gun to his head - you can read the serial number on the barrel of the gun! Edward James Olmos' face has never looked so craggy! It's like watching the show again for the first time. Even the CG effects seem to benefit from the upgraded clarity. A shot in the finale of Apollo leading a strike force of humans and Centurions down a hallway looked 'off' when I watched it on TV, but here, the Centurions seem to blend much more naturally with their surroundings. And the space shots are gorgeous.
