| Religious Fanatic | This was a fun film. As is widely known, it shows the Cylon side of the war, that we never got to see during the first two seasons, and attempts to ret-con the details and setbacks of the Cylon plan, which never actually existed but was mentioned in the opening sequence of each show at the behest of the Network. The plot basically follows the story from the perspective of the two Cavils we saw in "Lay down your Burdens", mostly elaborating on the events we've already seen unfold, making extensive use of clips from previous episodes. Both Cavils go on different journeys which both tie-in with the movie's main thematic motif, both ending up with differing answers to "The Human Question" by the end. There's not really much in the way of surprise, but what "The Plan" does well is reconcile the inconsistencies and logical gaps that separate the two halves of the show. The things that we know to have evolved in the writer's room after the fact fit in very nicely with the older material. Stockwell's Cavil is brilliant as usual, and he uses his near monopoly on screen time well, adding new depths to a character who some have argued was on the verge of becoming a moustache twirler. There's also a lot of new VFX eye candy, particularly towards the beginning. And tits, which are always welcome. The film's main problem is it's use of old footage, which can get a little boring at times, particularly when scenes I've already watched a couple of times or more play out unabridged and distract from the narrative, without provoking much more than an "Oh" from me. A lot of it's rather unnecessary for a film obviously aimed at fans of the show. I was also a little disappointed that the only non-Cylon regular to appear in the new footage was Olmos - who also happened to be the director. But the film's biggest negative for me was that it left me wanting more BSG. Because I know there isn't any.
