Default Megadeth - Endgame

So I'm in the process of listening to the newest Megadeth album and so far.. it's awful. The music is good enough, but the lyrics are horrible. Mustaine even sounds like he's just phoning it in. There's not real angst where there should be, and it's entirely too literal. Every song sounds like he's lost the ability to to use any subtlety whatsoever.

Now to be fair, Mustaine has never been vague in his lyrics, it's usually pretty apparent what the song is about based on what he's written, but Endgame takes it down a notch to the point where it sounds like he's reading from newspaper articles or some crappy screenplay.

Anyone else listen to this yet?

Ok, so track 9 "Headcrusher" isn't that bad. It's got all the speed and chug from stereotypical Megadeth songs. And you can barely make out what he's saying so I'll chalk that up to him actually trying. It's just sad that I had to get all the way to track 9 before I found one I liked.

Found my favourite on the album. Right To Go Insane. Not as heavy or as fast as classic Megadeth, but the solo picks up pretty well and the lyrics and singing are spot on in comparison to the rest of the album.

I'm gonna go back and try to listen to the rest of it again later. 44 Minutes I'm not looking forward to though. I only got about a quarter of the way through the track before skipping it. It was that awful.

This is exactly how I felt about the album. I almost wish it was an album entirely of instrumentals. The lyrics are terrible, ESPECIALLY 44 Minutes. It's probably the worst song on the whole album. Listening to Mustaine struggle through "fully automatic weapons" is just painful.

Yeah, I tried listening to it again today.. not gonna happen. I think this is the first time Megadeth has put out an album that I couldn't find any redeeming qualities to more than three quarters of the songs.

The only two I can stand to listen to are "Right To Go Insane" and "Dialect Chaos". And it's worth pointing out that the latter is an instrumental.

I'm actually going to delete all but those two songs from my hard drive. I can't see any circumstances when I'd actually want to listen to the rest of it. Pure garbage.

So with a lot of Megadeth songs I'm not a big fan upon first listen. Usually it takes a week or two before they start to grow on me. And after listening to Endgame for a week it still sucks donkey dick. *click, delete*

Yeah "United Abominations" took a while to grow on me. It's not totally amazing, but "Endgame" makes it look like a friggin work of art.

The album I've been listening to a lot recently is "The World Needs A Hero".

What's truly sad about it, is that I deleted it to make room for an episode of Clone Wars...

I've been listening to The System Has Failed recently. Trying to learn some of the riffs on guitar.

I still feel dirty for having downloaded Endgame at all.

The "Clone Wars" show is far more entertaining than any of the shitty prequel movies. I bought the first season on blu-ray after having only seen the first three or four episodes.
