If so, maybe we could have an AstroBar tournament or something similar.

And if anyone might want to find me playing online, I'm (<IF>)[JR]Space Goat.

I love playing multiplayer on games like "Elite Force" and "Return to Castle Wolfenstein," so I was eagerly looking forward to "Jedi Outcast's" online fragging component.

Sadly, I hated it. The addition of Force powers sounds like a great idea, but like Communism, was terrible in its execution. Adding the Force to the game, coupled with the level design, created a variety of truly cheap ways to kill another player. Combining Force powers became the easy way to win any match, and anyone who couldn't do it quite as quick as you was too easy a target. I can't count the number of times I was picked up and choked until I was dropped off a ledge by some smug jackass who claimed it was simply because I wasn't good enough and that he was the Jedi Master. More like Jedi Bastard.

Needless to say, I put up with it for about a month before I said, "Fuck this" and went back to killing Nazis on the beach. "Jedi Outcast" is a great single-player game, but I couldn't stand the multiplayer component. I wasn't the only one, either, since after its release, the company started coming out with patches to prevent players from playing so cheap.

The multiplayer game is a lot different now from when JO first came out. Most of the servers are non-Force, except for jump, and they've implemented anti-laming rules whereby you can't kill anyone with saber down or chatbox up. Dueling is the order of the day throughout much of JO land.

I think you'll like JO much better today. A good server to try is the 24-player IF OC3. MOD is also a good server.

Perhaps I'll give it another try, then. I just recently re-installed the game about a month ago and I've been working my way through the single-player again.

Briakar, you need to try Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It's a free multiplayer wolfenstein. It was supposed to be part of a Wolf expansion but for wwhatever the reason they scrapped the project. They didn't want the multiplayer part to go to waste, so they released it for free. That's right FREE!

The ganeplay is better than alo of shooters I've PAID for, and is much better than the regular multiplay in Wolf. Go give it a try.

I have that, actually, but I can't play it - they've shut down our ports so we can't play internet games. If someone else has it and starts a LAN game, I can play, but otherwise I'm stuck.

Yeah... THey've been closing ports so that we can't do file sharing and crap like that. They closed the gaming port at the end of last semester, and when we protested, they claimed that they shut it to "alleviate a bandwidth issue" which is a load of crap.

Why was it a load of crap? Because they shut it off AFTER everyone moved off campus. I stayed here over the summer to work. There were less than thirty of us here all summer, and they kept telling us they were having bandwidth issues. When I actually said, "That's a load of fucking bullshit," they told me to leave the office.
