![]() | ST:TMP. Yes it has its faults, but it also tries to reach farther than the others, making it the closest to pure Science Fiction of all of them. Of course, I'm recommending the Directors Edition...

| The Awesome One | I say TWOK. And not because of the space battles and such that are why ost people like it. I love it for the character drama that was such an integral part of it. The scene where Kirk is giving the eulogy for Spock, and he stutters for a second, is IMO, one of the most dramatic, and emotional scenes in all of Trek, and is my personal favourite. Although I will say that Undiscovered Country was a close second.

![]() | ST:TMP is my fave. Sure it drags in parts (the new version is the SHIT!), but all in all, the actors were still in fine form, the characters were closest to their characters in the show. Especially Shat. As the movie series progressed, Kirk became more like Shatner. I never cared for the whole "Kirk cheated" thing. Plus, the whole feel of the movie seemed to embody Trek better than every movie since then. The crew faced with a vast unknown, desperatly trying to *understand* this thing, find out what it wants. None of the other movies captured this feel, a feel that, to me, embodies Trek.

![]() | Interesting that not one of those of us who voted chose a TNG movie as they're favorite. When you're on Trekweb, it often seems like more folks think the TNG movies are tops.

| The Awesome One | The TNG movies had much better prodcution value than any of the originals, bu just lack something. There's a feeling you get when you're watching a Kirk era movie that just isn't there with the TNG ones. Although I did enjoy the TNG movies, I don't think they'll ever hold a candle to the originals.

![]() | I agree, even though I love the TNG movies (except "Insurrection"). My favorite is "Undiscovered Country." I'm not entirely certain why, I just felt that this was the best of the bunch - a taught political thriller, like if Tom Clancy did "Star Trek". That's something I'd love to see... a Clancy-style Trek story, with a really complex plot and political machinations. Damn, that'd be cool! Next up is "Wrath of Khan," and then the rest are all in equal "Third" positions, including "Final Frontier." If you want to know what I think of that one, check out my thread at TrekWeb. I count the TNG movies separately, with "Nemesis" and "First Contact" being my favorites then "Generations" and "Insurrection" distantly lagging.

| Religious Fanatic | I like TWOK as well, same reasons as bean mostly. To me, it's the only Trek film where everything just clicked, there was a credible villain, plenty of twists to keep it interesting, and I also think it was very well paced, it wasn't too quick like Nemesis, nor was it too draggy like Generations. I quite liked TSFS myself, it's not that great, but it's often forgotten as the middle child between TWOK and TVH.
