John Tuturro guest starred as Monk's brother. This is a guy that Monk described as having "issues" (besides not always having a grasp on reality, his brother's also agoraphobic). Sure, the mystery was pedestrian, but it was worth it watching Monk and his brother go at it.
That's right. Monk was the brave one. Going into a store, alone, at 15. Going out on a date at 26. Classic! Disher with his 'isn't that it? Usually he does his thing and the crime is solved. Can we all go home now?'. Monk rushing into the burning building and neatening up. Classic!
The one thing I didn't like about the episode is the fact that it seemed like a rip-off of Sherlock Holmes. After all, Mycroft also had better deductive powers than Sherlock (as Monk's brother has), but had no desire to become a detective (as Monk's brother doesn't have).
But it was fun!
