Anyone hear who is on this show?

Production started today and I've not been able to find out who is in it.

I know Adam Baldwin (Firefly) was trying for a part but I haven't heard whether he got it or not.

Looks like the role of Maj. John Sheppard will be played by his guy, not Adam Baldwin.

Maj. John Sheppard

I don't think Baldwin was up for the team leader. He said in an interview a while back that he understands the need to have someone young and 'sexy' in the role.

That being said, I kinda figured that when we saw him leading SG-13 two weeks ago, he wouldn't get the part in Atlantis. There's no way they'd hire him to play the SG-13 Colonel, then ship him off a few months later to play someone else in the new show.

I was doing a bunch of google searches (because I am very busy at work) and came on a place that I think was called chevronnine.com, or something close to that. A fan forum site.

The other thing I was thinking was since the rumor is that O'Neil is going to replace Hammond next season, maybe Baldwin will take O'Neil's slot.

I think that's basically been confirmed.

I that that would be an interesting idea; I thought he did a great job in Heroes 1.

EPISODE: THE LOST CITY (This 2-part SG1 episode acts as the pilot for the Atlantis spin-off series) Written by Brad Wright & Robert C. Cooper

Directed by Martin Wood

We'll finally see some Ancients in their natural habitat <G> in this episode. We'll find out how Ayiana ("Frozen") turned into an Ancient-cicle which was thawed out a few million years later in season six…

SG-1 is mixed up once again with Ancient technology (that brain downloading doohickey from "The Fifth Race"). SG-2 has discovered a planet with one of those devices. Daniel proposes bringing back the device to the base for study.

But as usual, something goes wrong because the Gou'ald arrive, which forces SG-1 to take some drastic action to procure the knowledge of the device. Jack has once again stuck his head in the darned thing, which the team destroys before fleeing.

However, worse things are on the horizon as the SGC suffers a shocking upheaval when the White House becomes directly involved in saving the world. President Hayes relieves General Hammond of his command and appoints Dr. Theresa Weir, a brilliant and world famous scientist (who has a couple PhDs and speaks five languages), total control of the project. She's not a big fan of the military at all, and was shocked to learn of the Stargate's existence. Yet even worse than her appointment, is that Senator Kinsey is now Vice President. However, if she doesn't control the program, it could under Kinsey's control, and the President isn't going to let that happen.

At the SGC, Jack has decided to take a few days off to get his affairs in order before his brain goes haywire from the download. Apparently the team will drop by. Some bonding time??

Dr. Weir is given a few months to revamp the operations, and Daniel has a conversation with her that does not go well. Daniel wonders bluntly why Hammond would be replaced with an inexperienced new person. She's disappointed in Daniel for asking such a question. But there's more problems that – if Jack transformation (his brain thing, not turning into a giant moth or anything) isn't stopped, he'll die. Bra'tac arrives with Ronan, and they are bearers of even more bad news: a pissed-off Anubis is getting his fleet together and is headed toward Earth. Danger Will Robinson! Danger!

Hammond goes to Washington to see the President, whom he's known for many, many years, and the President has another assignment in mind for him, one that could be even more important than commanding the SGC.

Dr. Weir discovers Kinsey is a thorn in her side, particularly when it comes to Jack O'Neill, whom she has come to side with in some matter, even though Kinsey blames him for everything and then admits he wants SG-1 gone. Weir is aghast at this admission and is left wondering what to do next.

Meanwhile, anybody with a really big telescope must be stockpiling Smores, chocolate milk and DVDs in their bomb shelter as several of Anubis' nasty ships have arrived and have taken up orbit around Earth. The evil Anubis wants to know what kind of Ancient alien technology SG-1 scored on that planet which they were chased off of. Fortunately, General Hammond is in Washington and can offer sound and seasoned advice on how to deal with the situation.

Yet ultimately, it's up to SG-1 to save the day, and they (along with Bra'tac and Ronan) head off for planets-unknown to find the lost city while Jack can still speak English. Jack finds the location of the lost city – it's back on Earth! The trip back to earth takes a little longer when it turns out there's a traitor in their midst and Bra'tac is grievously wounded, but is saved.

Meanwhile, Earth falls under a 'surgical' attack, so it's gonna be hard to hide what's going on. Anubis pops up, virtually, in the President's office, making the usual arrogant Gou'ald threats. The Gou'ald disables the Earth's power structures, making communication impossible. With no other options, they launch Prometheus, with Hammond at the helm, and Major Davis assisting.

SG-1 makes it back to where it all began in "Solitudes" – the Antarctic – discovering some ancient buried technology which saves the day, and Earth as well. However, the strain may have been too much for Jack, and Sam fears for his fate (in what seems to be a possibly 'shippy' scene with tears); however, Jack's fate may remain unresolved . . . as Atlantis rises.

Guest cast includes Dr. Theresa Weir (formerly named Theresa Wright), President Henry Hayes, Vice President Kinsey (boo hiss), Michelle, Bra'tac, Ronan, Aide, General Pearson, An Ancient, Ayiana (?) (from "Frozen"), Secret Service Agent, Major Harper (SG2), Colonel Reynolds (SG3), SG3 Airman, Chairman of Joint Chief of Staff, Anubis (boo hiss), Technician, Secretary of Defense, Colonel Kirkland, Shields Officer, Sgt. Harriman, lots of expendable Jaffa extras, and Major Davis is back as well.

More stuff,

Apparently the role of Dr. Weir will now be played by Torri Higginson and Robert Patrick of X-Files and T2 fame will be a guest star. The site indicates he will be the Colonel, but they are just guessing.

further info

I like Robert Patrick, I could see him being an SG-1 regular.
