| Astro-Monkey | Smallville actually impressed me last night. I'm really enjoying these almost Lana-less episodes. Kristen Kruek may be easy on the eyes, but she's really starting to bug me. Maybe it's just because it's the end of season 3 and she's still in the same place she was with Clark when the show began. But, I really enjoyed Lex's flashbacks last night. The directing was impressive; I was reminded of how Tom described The Glass Menagerie when they got darker. But, I went in last night with diminished expectations. And Smallville surpassed them. With Angel going off the air, and nothing new sounding really promising yet for next year, maybe that's going to be the secret to the '04-'05 TV season. Go in with diminished expectations to really enjoy it. And maybe I'll have to pick up a good book.

![]() | Back to the quality level the show was at last year. Definitely an improvement over the last stretch of episodes.

| The Awesome One | I loved it. The confrontation between Lex and Lionel at the end was amazing. I was actually clenched in anticipation of what was going to happen. I think their starting to show us some of the things that lead up to Lex eventually going bad. Although I do hope it's more than "Daddy didn't love me" they showed at least one emotionally and mentally scarring incident last night. I will say though, that even the above mentioned cliche of Daddy didn't love me syndrome, was done remarkably well in that scene between the two. They really show us WHY Lex and his father are so much at odds. It kind of left me feeling that ven though they both know the truth now, it's been this way for so long that it's too late to change it. I was appalled that they actually killed the baby, and then actually showed his own mother smothering him with a pillow, but not nearly as apalled by the fact that Lex was basically forced to take the wrap for it. Growing up his entire life with his father thinking he had killed his own brother, just plain sick. And I mean that in a positive critique, not a complaint. Honestly, I was so wrapped up in the Lex/Lionel story, that I really didn't get into the but about Clarks past. It really held little interest for me. That has to say something about the ep, becase normally, the Clark Mythos is WHY I watch the show.
