| It's me again | OK, as you are all well aware, I am on the road alot, so the one thing I enjoy is good music to relax me and make a drive seem shorter. I just bought the Red Hot Chili Peppers Greatest Hits CD. As a rule, I never usually buy greatest hits CDs and this particular band, IMHO, has had many ups and downs but a couple of quality songs over the years, so I figured this would be a good purchase. So I pop the CD into the player while I am driving and the first 8-10 tracks were good, but the last 6 or so were just such a let down. Here's my point -- it is a greatest hits album, only put your best stuff on there. So if it is only 12 tracks instead of 16 or 17 who cares? BAH. OK, just wanted to vent. So any recommendations for good CDs to listen to over a couple hour car drive?

| Astro-Monkey | Get yourself an iPod (or similar mp3 player) and turn your favorite songs to mp3. Then, when you go on a car trip, plug your iPod into the car, and you'll have hours worth of music that you actually like.

| Religious Fanatic | I'd reccomend Green Day: International Superhits, which really is all their best songs, Nirvana : Unplugged in NY and Nevermind which between them has their best songs, as well as Metallica: S&M which everyone seems to like. Also, if you can listen to heavy music, then there's Master of Puppets by Metallica, which is their best studio album IMHO, and contains "Orion" which is my favourite song, even though it's not a song.

| The Awesome One | Well, as far as "compilation" albums go, I'lll agree with Cymro on S&M. All good songs with the exception of Devils Dance, and it has two really good originals as well, -Human and No Leaf Clover.

| Religious Fanatic | I think Master of Puppets is better than any compilation, but even when doing the old heavy shit, Metallica sounded considerably softer on the S&M album, probably due to the thicker, warmer sound from the orchestra, the fact that the guitars weren't as loud as on the studio albums, and the "mature" Hetfield Voice. I can't say I really care that much for the stuff after "Master.." though, there are good songs, but there's something that stops them from being great songs, except "One" and "Nothing Else Matters", and possiby "Blackened", "To Live is To Die" and "The Memory Remains". "And Justice for All" was a little Bland and sounded like an attempt at recreating the feel of "Master Of Puppets", "Black Album" was good on first listen, but gets annoying after a while, as most great songs reveal themselves after a few listenes rather than strike you straght away. Load and ReLoad were pretty dull really, and Saint Anger sounds like an attempt at updating their sound so they sound like every other late nineties-early thousands trashy nu-metal band. I think the down tuning was the most unoriginal thing they've ever done, though I'll admit "Unamed Feeling" was a damn good song, regarldess of the crappy riffing.
