Default Age of Empires II - Easily the hardest RTS I've ever played

Fuck me is this thing hard, I'm on mission 6 of the French campaign and I am totally stuck, I've tried it about 15 times now and progress is slow, but I am getting there, but the amazing thing is, I'm on the easy setting! The problem I'm having is in keeping myself in troops as I'm attempting to gather the recources to get more troops. I suppose it doesn't help that I'm not used to RTSes with sword Fights, as troops having no range at all it a little weird.

Also, since I switched monitors, the menus have been coming out weird on screen, though the gameplay itself is fine, for some reason, 3 inches of the screen have been cut off at the top and appear at the bottom, and the mouse seems to be doing the same thing. This may be a weird reaction to my new resolution, which is 1280x1024, but the game does support this, so I don't know, maybe it's just a problem with the hack...

Overall, good game.

Does your montor support that resolution though? And your Video card? A problem with a hacked version likely wouldn't cause an issue like the one you describe.

Anyways, yeah AOE II is one of my favourite RTS's.

Please don't insult my intelligence. As it turns out, my monitor's auto-adjust feature was just not turned on.

Well, there were lots of reasons why the answer to both those questions were no, plus it irritates the hell out of me when people assume all computer problems are caused by ignorance. I'm not trying to be an asshole here, but if I switched monitors, then it's logical to assume I'd have already tested out it's range, just like when you get a new car, the fist thing you do is find a nice quitet stretch and put your foot down

No, acctually, please do. Sorry for the bad temper, but I've been a little edgy of late due to lack of sleep plus the fact that my father is awaiting life-saving heart surgery. I've been getting snappy with everyone recently.

No problem, I'm probably the last one that should hold a grudge around here for having a short temper.
