![]() | I've never managed to take this character seriously. I mean, come on, Green LANTERN? What the shit is that? With his magical power ring that makes big green ladels for him to scoop people out of the water or something. With Superman, you've got two Jews who were like, "Hey, we need a strong role model, an everyman who is more than man, who fights for truth, and justice, and the American way!" With Batman, it's like, "Hmm... A detective who uses FEAR to intimidate his foes!" Wonder Woman: "I'm an Amazon, and I want to teach the world of men about utopia and peace." Green Lantern: "I'll light up evil with my green lantern ring, so a REAL superhero can come and beat the shit out of it."

![]() | I disagree. I think GL is one of the coolest concepts in comics. It's certainly one of the most enduring concepts. And Hal Jordan has the coolest costume next to the Flash. I don't know if you've read any of the Kyle Raynor GL, but if not, it'll prolly apeal to you more than Hal's stuff.

![]() | They probably think it's the only way they'll be able to get a mainstream audience interested in seeing it. Let's face it, even you guys who like GL have to admit that his audience is limited compared to Batman or Superman. And since it's Warner Bros who's making it, they don't seem to give a damn about making a good DC movie anymore... They've taken the right steps with Batman Begins, and I'm cautiously optimistic about the developments of Superman Returns, but other than that it's pretty bleak over there. Warners shot themselves in the foot for ruining their chances at endless "Matrix" sequels, and people are already tiring of "Harry Potter".

![]() | "Let's face it, even you guys who like GL have to admit that his audience is limited compared to Batman or Superman. " Dude, that applies to shit loads of hero's from both Marvel and DC. Batman and Superman exist at a level far beyond most heroes because of their long life span, but also because they've had success in other media's long before becoming motion pictures. Each had their own show, Supes had a radio show, each had cartoons, etc, etc. All it takes is the right writer to do the property justice. "Blade" anyone? In the comics, that character sucked major ass. He was so forgetable that I'd forgotten that I had SEVERAL issues of The Defenders, in the 80's, that he was in. Yet they're now working on the third Blade movie. So GL can work, both in comics and film. You can do old fashion noir superhero with Alan Scott, the original. You can do "space cop" with Hal Jordan. You can do young, inexperienced hero with Kyle Raynor. GL isn't just Spider-Man or Batman, who, outside of their cities are pretty dull and useless. Who have to stick to a certain shtick to be true to their characters. With GL there's more potential to do just about anything or any type of story.

![]() | I don't think GL is that bad a character, I kind of like the backstory of the GL Corps, but I really don't like the idea of Jack Black turning into a comedy. But I guess since it's not Batman, Spiderman, or Superman, they didn't think that anyone would go see it if they took it seriously. I actually like the GL depicted on the Justice League (now Justice League Unlimited) cartoons.
