| It's me again | I was just sitting at my desk, thinking about everything but work and a thought came to me about DS9. How different (i.e better or worse) would DS9 have been if instead of the way the seven seasons panned out, they treated the wormhole as something similar to a Stargate and have the Dominion be more like the Gua'uld. I know this is hindsight and that SG-1 did all this, but when DS9 was created and first aired, SG-1 wasn't yet on the air. Sisko could be the lead of the teams that go through the wormhole to explore the Gamma quadrant, some Captain could be in charge of the station, etc, etc, etc... I mean obviously knowing what we know now, it would be a SG-1 rip off but think back to the early 90s I think the show would have been HUGE. My $0.02 anyway.

![]() | I dunno, I've never entirely bought the idea that DS9 fell down in the polls because people didn't like what it was doing. Maybe your idea would have saved some, but remember that all of a sudden right in the middle of DS9's run, the TV landscape was changing forever. The syndication format that had made TNG so popular was becoming stale. Cable TV was booming and satellite was starting to become available. All of a sudden, there were a hundred times more channels and programming than there had been just a few years previously. Syndication fell by the wayside. Nowadays, syndicated shows are the ones that just aren't good enough to get network pickups like "Mutant X" or "Relic Hunter". I don't know if a different format would have made much of a difference on DS9. I for one am SUPREMELY happy with the way it turned out, but if it had gone that route, I would still have given it the same chance.

| It's me again | oh, don't get me wrong, I like DS9 alot, I was just having idle thoughts. Kind of a different way of telling the same story I guess. Categorize it as mental masterbation.

![]() | It's not a bad idea at all. SG-1 certainly has found a successful formula.
