![]() | For class this semester, my partner and I (minus the sucky one from last semester that left us to write "Smallville" virtually on our own) must come up with an original pilot and write the one-hour script for it. Here's our idea that we've settled on. I hope it piques your interests: "Deja Vu" There is a theory that the universe repeats its existence over and over again, and that Deja Vu is when you "remember" this moment from your previous existence. Now, the universe has reached its critical mass, and it can hold no more "repeats." Now, people all over the planet are starting to "remember" their past existences, essentially, being able to see their own futures. These people come to be known as "Viewers". This causes chaos all over the planet as some use this new ability for good, and others, inevitably, for evil. It effects different people differently, too. Some gain full knowledge of the rest of their lives, some just a bit, and some merely gain heightened senses or instincts. The US government, deciding that these new abilities require policing to keep the world from disentegrating into war, starts up a new department to combat the bad ones. That's the premise of our show, and we've got a few really cool tricks up our sleeves that we've thought of. Personally, I can't wait to start writing this one, since we intend to copyright it and submit it to screenwriting contests.

![]() | Well, the greater your "Viewer" skills, the larger your breasts are. There's a scene in the pilot where one woman's shirt busts open because she knows too much about the future.

| Religious Fanatic | I like it, though it wasn't the wisest idea to post it on the internet before copyrighting it.

The only reason you would need to do anything special with a work is if you needed to enforce a copyright in court. And, in order to do that, you just need to be able to show that your idea came first (and posting the idea on the internet is one way to do that ).Brikar-- Have you ever read "Timequake" By Kurt Vonnegut? The story idea vaguely reminds me of the story element out of the novel (in his novel, the universe gets tired of expanding, and decides to contract, sending everyone ten years into the past. His story diverges from yours in that everyone has to relive those ten years of their life, making the same mistakes and screwing up their lives again). Like I said though, neat idea.

![]() | Yes, that's true about the copyrighting, but we wanted to do it anyway, and register it with the WGA, which gives even more protection. But I wonder how copyrights work in the UK? I haven't heard of that novel. I might pick it up when I get some free time. ![]()

But there are a few glimmers of universal truths in there, just like most of his books.
