I understand what you mean about the paperwork Gitch. They've gotten really strict about it in New Brunswick over the last year though. Employers are required to have the employees sign and ackowledge the final paperwork, as well as keep it on file for two years after the employee leaves the job. It's actually illegal now for an employer in NB to falsify the records in any way. An employer caught doing it coud technically be charge with fraud.
It's the result of alot of class action suits against employers here over the last few years for messing with hours. NB has a great system of attracting call centers and such by offering them startup capital to come here. The catch is they watch them like hawks to make sure they don't treat the employees badly. So we get employers like mine who follow the laws to the letter. The trade off is of course that the employers get really strict about everything, including breaks.
I was told the other day that I could actually be fired for not taking my full breaktime. So if I clocked back in after 14 mins instead of 15, they could fire me for it.
