![]() | Hi all [Siroth goes to the bar and gets a cold one from the barkeep on the Lensman's tab...] Cymro was quick to welcome me back before I even posted (thanks man), and asked where I've been. Well, it's a long story that all began when my old computer decided to rebel against me by burning up my entire motherboard ![]() For months this left me not only offline, but also unable to access all the files I had store on my hard drive. Eventually I got a new computer (P4 3ghz with a Radeon 9800 XT graphics card - sweeet) from which I'm typing now (well, not by the time you read this, but you know what I mean). Anyway, once I got back online, the old link was no longer valid, and I concluded that the bar had sadly been sucked into hollow void of cyberspace during my absence. It wasn't until I actually posted something on Trekweb a day or two ago that Iamspen replied and gave me the new URL. And so here I am... What's been happening in the meantime? |

| Religious Fanatic | Well, to explain it all, here are some bits and pieces from the "Booze Up and Riot" chronicle thread: "The Astro Bar 2.0 was a great place, filled with the same people we know and love. Ironically, we seemed to get new regular posters at a faster pace than we did at Trekweb. While some of these posters were just fulfilling their desires to post at a BBS and have since left (ala Hippo), we have also chained some of them to a chair and forced them to stay (ala Sirgets). Then, with no warning, xsorbit fucked up..." (iamspen) ".....This Xsorbit fuck up was no usual temporary loss of service problem (which we had experienced fairly regularly), xsorbit had somehow managed to completely delete the board that Cujo was paying them $80/a year for. This came without warning, and suddenly we all were left homeless and confused. During the down time, Arik, then known as "The Visitor" had taken the initiative amd set up a new BBS on his own paid webspace, and it took some time, but eventually, through the magic of IM services and our own natural instincts (i.e. if all else fails, try Trekweb), we all made it back here, barring a couple of patrons we lost along the way. We have still yet to hear from Starchild or Siroth, but everyone else is still here, and we have gained far more than we have lost along the way. We have come far from our origins; We were once a small group of posters who gathered in an unused part of a big BBS, The AstroBar was just a little place we would stop by whilst reading Trekweb, now we are our own BBS, the first place our partons go when they log onto the net,and our own Domain name We've all put a little of ourselves into this place, and as long as we care about talking nonsense and pretending to drink, the AstroBar will continue. Long Live The Astrobar!" (Me) EDIT: Looks like almost everyone's accounted for now ![]()

| Astro-Monkey | Glad to see you back. Cymro letcha know most of what's happened in the past couple 'a months (or, just over a year?!). Cymro, we're still missing TripsGirl. Cujo, you weren't really paying $80/year for Xorbits were you? Was that Canadian?

Didn't Tripsgirl say something about her career or caring for her mother or something...

| Astro-Monkey | Yeah, I read that after I edited my comments for the second time. I couldn't be half assed to do it a third. TG had all sorts of issues, both with her mother (who was injured) and connecting to the internet at home. IIRC, she was also having problems with her husband, but I may just be talking out of my ass with that one. I've seen Trekker on MSN, I just haven't talked to him. Don't know why.

| It's me again | Well I am pretty much the only regular newbie here. I am Stag, basically I post lots of nonsense, drink alcohol only if other are buying and have a thing for porn and animals. Inspired by Cymro and his non-stop sheep shagging.

| Religious Fanatic | Stag also puts the rest of us to shame with his post count.
